Race Seven : (80) - TIU KENG LENG HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters
Horse No 1 ROYAL PRIDE (E351) C Y Ho From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 2 LEAN HERO (G402) H Bowman Was sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 RED HARE KING (H188) M Chadwick Approaching the 1400 Metres was steadied away from GOODBAN BANBANBANG.
Horse No 4 CASA COSMO (G436) A Atzeni Shortly after the start was crowded between ROYAL PRIDE and FASTPASS.
Horse No 5 GOODBAN BANBANBANG (G432) K De Melo Approaching the 1400 Metres was steadied away from SURE JOYFUL which was being eased to allow FASTPASS to cross.
K De Melo was warned for using the whip on the horse which was out of contention.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 7 TURIN WARRIOR (G150) Z Purton From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Near the 600 Metres was bumped by GOODBAN BANBANBANG which made the turn awkwardly and shifted out.
When questioned regarding his riding from the 600 Metres, Z Purton stated that after being bumped by GOODBAN BANBANBANG, his mount was then positioned behind PRINCE ALEX near the 600 Metres.
He said when FASTPASS hung out and PRINCE ALEX was taken out by SURE JOYFUL at the 500 Metres, he was then reluctant to proceed to the outside as this may have resulted in TURIN WARRIOR being held up for clear running.
He added as a result he remained racing behind PRINCE ALEX until approaching the 350 Metres when he obtained clear running to the outside of that horse.
The Stewards found the tactics adopted were reasonable in the circumstances.
Was sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 8 SUPERB MOVE (G304) L Hewitson After the race, L Hewitson advised that his instructions, from a wide barrier, were to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages.
He said although SUPERB MOVE commenced well tonight, to comply with his instructions, he restrained his mount in the early stages in an attempt to find cover.
He said after being caught wide and without cover in the early stages, he was obliged to come further back and race at the rear of the field to avoid covering additional ground.
Trainer C H Yip confirmed the instructions issued.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 11 FASTPASS (H040) H T Mo Was crowded at the start.
After the race, H T Mo stated that his mount hung out throughout the event and made the Home Turn wide before weakening in the Home Straight.

The performance and racing manners of FASTPASS were considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, FASTPASS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial around a bend in Hong Kong and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Punted late, Lean Hero took control 100m out after his midfield run on the rail to ring up his third win from six starts over Happy Valley's 1,650m. He relished his return to the city circuit after running on nicely for fifth first up over 1,400m at Sha Tin. Turin Warrior settled second last from gate 10 and dashed well down the outside to grab second in the final few metres. It was a good fresh effort for his new trainer, Manfred Man Ka-leung. Dragon Star grudgingly gave way after dictating the tempo. He has run well in defeat in each of his three starts this season. Royal Pride just failed to get up for a placing after settling third last from his awkward gate. He is a winner waiting to happen in this grade. Prince Alex travelled fourth last from the widest barrier and made headway late to finish the next best. He could bob up at any moment after giving decent sights in both of his races this term. Sure Joyful only plodded following his handy run. He found it harder after his win in Class Five. Casa Cosmo made some ground near the inside from worse than midfield. It was not a bad run but he has still to find a bottom.
