In a wide-open market, betting drifter Sparkling Dolphin kept up a strong gallop after finding the front from gate five to notch a fifth career win over the straight 1,000m. He's not easy to get right on his day. Strive For Glory ran on nicely two from the left settling one from near last to make it close on the wire. He was at his best first-up last season. Punted late Happy For All jumped out of his skin late from near last on the grandstand side to grab a placing in his first ever try over the straight 1,000m. He did win first up last term. Odds-on favourite Ruby Sailing only plodded last 100m after getting all favours chasing the winner on the stands side. On face value, it was a disappointing run despite seconds in three prior starts. Always Awesome came from last to finish next best. He's clearly got the tools to shortly win a race but it's likely over a longer trip. Woodfire Champ made some ground from just worse than midfield on the far side from a low draw. It was an encouraging debut effort. Plunged late Multidarling came up flat after a handy run. He couldn't build on a close fourth on opening day.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (57) - CHONGQING HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1000Meters

HAPPY FOR ALL, STRIVE FOR GLORY and YEE CHEONG SPIRIT were slow to begin.

ALWAYS AWESOME jumped only fairly.

A short distance after the start, MULTIDARLING was bumped and got unbalanced by REGENT GLORY which shifted in and away from THE GOOD DEAL.

In this incident, STRIVE FOR GLORY was also steadied.

ALWAYS AWESOME was unable to improve its position after passing the 500 Metres and raced in restricted room for some distance before being put under pressure near the 300 Metres.

TRAVEL GOLF was held up passing the 400 Metres and continued to be held up until being put under pressure near the 200 Metres.

REGENT GLORY was also held up after passing the 400 Metres and failed to obtain clear running from that point.

Then near the 50 Metres, REGENT GLORY was checked to avoid causing interference to DIAMOND FLARE and at the same time avoid the heels of SWEET DIAMOND and subsequently was not fully tested over the concluding stages.

After the race, A Badel (SAVVY DELIGHT) was of the view that the horse would derive benefit from its first up run today.

A veterinary inspection of SAVVY DELIGHT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Also after the race, Z Purton (RUBY SAILING) could offer no excuse for his mount's performance today.

RUBY SAILING, SPARKLING DOLPHIN and STRIVE FOR GLORY were sent for sampling.
