Recap by phillip woo

Togepi got up in the final few strides to deny long-time leader One For All for a maiden win at his 10th start. He deserved the win after placing in three of his past four starts. One For All nearly made all after clearing to the lead 1,050m out from gate eight. The move to claimer Angus Chung Yik-lai nearly worked the oracle. Hearty Wish stayed on well after a prominent run to fill a placing. He was able to build on a placing last month. Favourite Travel Golf just got up to share fourth with Lyrical Motion after making his run from midfield on the fence. He's not far off a winning run. Lyrical Motion made some ground down the outside from better than midfield to share fourth. It was a better run on his past few but he has been disappointing after arriving off a mark of 65. The well-backed Hero Star weakened over the final 100m after tracking the leader from gate one. He needs to lead uncontested to have any chance. Juneau Flash ran on without menacing ridden cold from gate 12. The quick back up off a near win last Wednesday failed to pan out.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (823) - STAR SHINE HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

MULTIMORE was withdrawn on 11.7.23 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right hind) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter CHEONG FAT (Z Purton).

Before being allowed to race again, MULTIMORE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

On entering the Parade Ring, FORTUNE CARRIER kicked a running rail.

FORTUNE CARRIER was examined by the Veterinary Officer on arrival at the Start and passed suitable to race.

Whilst parading behind the barriers, CHEONG FAT broke loose from its handler, dislodging its rider, Z Purton.

CHEONG FAT then galloped riderless for a considerable distance and was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.

Before being allowed to race again, CHEONG FAT will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

After the race, CHEONG FAT was found to have sustained a wound to the right hind cannon.

Z Purton was subsequently examined by the Chief Medical Officer and passed fit to fulfil his remaining race riding engagements.

SURE JOYFUL was slow to begin.

TELECOM SPIRIT was crowded at the start by AESTHETICISM which shifted out and away from HEARTY WISH.

From the outside barrier, JUNEAU FLASH was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

TELECOM SPIRIT raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

When questioned, M Chadwick (TELECOM SPIRIT) stated that approaching the 50 Metres his mount commenced to labour and for this reason he did not ride it out to the finish of the event.

M Chadwick was reminded of his responsibilities that, wherever possible, he should fully test his mounts to the finish of the race.

A veterinary inspection of AESTHETICISM, FORTUNE CARRIER and SURE JOYFUL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

TRAVEL GOLF, TOGEPI and ONE FOR ALL were sent for sampling.
