Favourite Reward Smile shot clear 100m out after a prominent run on the fence to make it a win once at each track and four seconds from as many local starts and chalk up Hong Kong win number 1,600 for jockey Zac Purton. He clearly has the tools to head higher. Armour Eagle ran on nicely from midfield to easily grab second without threatening the winner. It was a better effort from gate one after hovering around the finish from tricky gates in two prior starts. Majestic Knight just held on for third after dictating the run from gate three. He's honest as the day is long but has trouble winning. Lucky Eight just got the bob down for fourth from the box seat. He had every chance, but the big weight anchored him. Victory Scholars grudgingly gave way after a speed-tracking run. He just keeps finding one or a few too smart in this class. California Cible ran on from behind midfield without threatening the top five. Wings Of War made ground late from towards the rear. He needs to draw a gate. Smart Idea never landed a blow from behind midfield. It was an out-of-character performance.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine: (806) - WATERFALL BAY PARK HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters

On jumping, MAJESTIC KNIGHT and LUCKY EIGHT were crowded for room between CALIFORNIA CIBLE and REWARD SMILE which shifted out.

In this incident, CALIFORNIA CIBLE was bumped by LUCKY EIGHT, became unbalanced and then was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

SMART IDEA jumped only fairly.

PRIME MORTAR jumped awkwardly and then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

From a wide barrier, GOODBAN BANBANBANG was also shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Near the 800 Metres, REWARD SMILE was steadied when momentarily crowded by LUCKY EIGHT (H Bowman) which shifted in before being corrected.

H Bowman was reprimanded.

Approaching the 250 Metres, LUCKY EIGHT improved into a narrow run between MAJESTIC KNIGHT and VICTORY SCHOLARS and as a result made contact with VICTORY SCHOLARS.

After being taken out slightly by MAJESTIC KNIGHT near the 150 Metres, LUCKY EIGHT then shifted out and away from that runner and again made contact with VICTORY SCHOLARS.

C Y Ho (BRAVE STAR) was reminded of his obligation to ensure that he rides his mounts out to the finish of the event.

After the race, C Y Ho reported that, in his opinion, BRAVE STAR would derive fitness benefit from tonight's performance.

A veterinary inspection of BRAVE STAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
