Recap by phillip woo
Short-priced favourite Stoltz took control 120m out after chasing the leading pair one off the fence. He has five-furlong wins once at each track in his past two starts and loves the Valley 1,000m. Punted late, Whizz Kid just held on for second after getting his own way in front from gate two. He relished a return to his favourite Valley 1,000m trip. Kurpany just failed to get up for second after a prominent run one off the fence. He's had a stop-start campaign but appreciated a return to his favourite course and distance. Carroll Street came from near last in the six-horse field after a tardy start to finish next best without menacing the top three. He's a straight 1,000m horse. Eason was never a threat at the back of the field. He was run off his feet with a step back in distance after scoring an upset win two runs ago over 1,200m. Ping Hai Galaxy was gone upon straightening after getting posted three wide chasing the leader from the widest gate. He had an excuse but hasn't been as sharp of late.
