Recap by phillip woo
Stoltz kept on gamely after hitting the lead 200m out chasing the speed in third for a fourth career win and first from two starts over the straight 1,000m. He goes very well under Zac Purton. Carroll Street finished nicely down the far side to find one just better travelling second last of eight runners from a low draw. He relished a return to his favourite straight 1,000m trip. Run Run Cool stayed on well for third after a handy run on the stands side. He added to a good effort last weekend in an easier class. Odds-on favourite We Are Hero plodded over the last 100m to just take fourth from midfield. He came up flat off a 49-day break after winning four of his past five starts. Whizz Kid grudgingly gave way after chasing the speed on the stands side. He requires rating relief. Punted late Nervous Witness had no more to offer over the final 200m after zipping to the lead 800m out from a low draw. He continues his struggles off a big weight.
