Recap by phillip woo
Raging favourite Lucky Sweynesse won going away after hitting the front near the 300m despite a wide trip chasing the speed for the first 400m to ring up a remarkable seventh win, including a sweep of the Speed Series, from nine starts this term. He's a superstar. Courier Wonder came from last to take second. He can bob up now and then. Punted late Wellington had his chance after chasing the leading pair one off the fence with cover. It was another honest performance by last season's champion sprinter but he has had to give way to youth. Specked late Sight Success had his chance after a box seat run but only plodded when asked for an effort. A recent trip to Dubai may have left him a bit flat. Well-backed late, Japan's Aguri finished next best after getting posted wide without cover from midfield. Duke Wai ran on steadily without ever looking a threat from towards the rear. Flaming Rib was never a factor after making his run one from the rear in the eight-horse field. Master Eight tamely faded to finish last after working forward four wide to eventually find the front.
