Racing Incident Report
Race Four: (552) - KALANCHOE HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters
KUNG FU TEA was withdrawn on 5.4.23 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (heart irregularity).
Before being allowed to race again, KUNG FU TEA will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
BIG TWO was slow to begin.
On jumping, YOUNG VICTORY was bumped by STARSHIP EIGHTY which shifted in.
ONE HEART ONE jumped awkwardly, shifted out and then was steadied away from JAZZ WITH DRAGON.
RIGHT HONOURABLE also jumped awkwardly and from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
From the outside barrier, RED ELYSEES was also shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Passing the 800 Metres, ONE HEART ONE (C Y Ho) improved into a run between THE HULK (L Currie) and YOUNG VICTORY where there was doubtful room.
A short distance later, THE HULK shifted to the outside of JAZZ WITH DRAGON and in doing so crowded the running of ONE HEART ONE, resulting in ONE HEART ONE being checked and taken out and causing YOUNG VICTORY to also be checked when positioned close to the heels of PERFECT ROCK.
After considering the incident, the Stewards found that as there was doubtful room where ONE HEART ONE had improved into and the shift from THE HULK commenced as ONE HEART ONE was endeavouring to obtain that run, both C Y Ho and L Currie were advised in similar circumstances to exercise more care.
In this incident, RIGHT HONOURABLE was hampered when crowded by ONE HEART ONE, and HAPPY HUNK, which was following, was steadied to avoid the heels of YOUNG VICTORY.
Near the 600 Metres, YOUNG VICTORY was eased when crowded between ONE HEART ONE and RED ELYSEES, both of which shifted ground slightly.
PERFECT ROCK raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event, lay out making the Home Turn and subsequently finished tailed out.
The performance of PERFECT ROCK was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, PERFECT ROCK will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Passing the 400 Metres, RED ELYSEES improved into a narrow run between PERFECT ROCK and STARSHIP EIGHTY and as a result RED ELYSEES made contact with STARSHIP EIGHTY, taking that runner wider.
The performance of JAZZ WITH DRAGON, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, JAZZ WITH DRAGON will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of YOUNG VICTORY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of ONE HEART ONE immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm.
Before being allowed to race again, ONE HEART ONE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of STARSHIP EIGHTY immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its left front leg.
Before being allowed to race again, STARSHIP EIGHTY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
ONE HEART ONE, THE HULK and RED ELYSEES were sent for sampling.

The Hulk took control 100m out after getting all the favours in the box seat for a first win from eight starts this term. He relished a return to the Valley and was well rated in a depthless race. Punted late, Red Elysees came from last at one point to easily take second. The old-timer was around the mark in a few of his opening eight starts and opted to remain in the grade off a light weight. Big Two stayed on for a placing after a prominent run. He was able to build on a front-running fifth last start. Theta Hedge was on his tippy toes 100m out after finding the front from gate 10. He's only borderline a Class Four horse. Favourite One Heart One ran on steadily from behind midfield to finish next best after getting hampered 700m out. He was unlucky. Right Honourable made ground late without threatening near the inside after a patient ride one from the rear. Happy Hunk made headway late from towards the rear. It was an improved effort with a step up in distance at his second career run. Young Victory wasn't a threat after losing ground from midfield when hampered 700m out. He can be forgiven for the run.
