Drifting favourite Adios just held off Goko Win after hitting the front 100m out after travelling three wide with cover better than midfield for a third win and first on the surface from 12 starts. He lived up to an eye-catching second on the dirt last start. Goko Win ran on nicely to finish a close second from behind midfield. It was a fine effort up in grade trying the dirt after dashing nicely to win last start on the turf. Computer Patch ran on nicely from midfield to just edge Super Win Dragon for third. It was his best run of the campaign with a switch to dirt racing here. Super Win Dragon dashed late after a patient ride third last. He rarely produces a bad run over this surface and trip. Campione weakened over the last 100m after setting a genuine pace on his lonesome in front. He needs rating relief. Astrologer ran on steadily without threatening from behind midfield. Toronado Phantom made headway late down the outside without menacing ridden for luck at the back from gate 11. Nervous Witness finished eased down after getting stranded four wide after going forward from gate 12. He had a clear excuse.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (538) - TUNG WAN HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1200Meters

POWER KOEPP and SUPER WIN DRAGON bumped at the start.

GOKO WIN jumped awkwardly, shifted out and bumped COMPUTER PATCH.

GOKO WIN was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

From a wide barrier, TORONADO PHANTOM was also shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Near the 700 Metres, ADIOS was steadied when momentarily crowded by HARMONY AND RICH which, after shifting in and away from NERVOUS WITNESS (L Currie), was then taken in slightly by that runner.

L Currie was advised to exercise more care.

In this incident, GOKO WIN, which was following ADIOS, was steadied to avoid that runner, shifted out and bumped with STOLTZ.

When questioned regarding the performance of NERVOUS WITNESS, L Currie reported that his mount was obliged to race very wide and without cover due to it not showing sufficient pace to cross runners to its inside, however, in his opinion, NERVOUS WITNESS still raced in a disappointing manner.

A veterinary inspection of NERVOUS WITNESS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of NERVOUS WITNESS, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, NERVOUS WITNESS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

After the race, K C Leung (KA YING MASTER) reported that with the strong pace set in the early stages and his mount being positioned in the lead, it was unable to sustain its run to the finish and as a consequence gave ground when placed under pressure in the Straight.

A veterinary inspection of KA YING MASTER immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer??which had previously been reported.

A veterinary inspection of TORONADO PHANTOM and POWER KOEPP immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

ADIOS and GOKO WIN were sent for sampling.
