Punted late Flying High quickened nicely to collar runaway leader Cheval Valiant after shifting into the open 200m out from behind midfield on the stands side to ring up a third win to go along with three placings from eight straight 1,000m runs this term. He was able to raise his game despite a return to Class Three. Cheval Valiant kept on gamely to finish a clear second after setting a brisk pace in front. It was another fine effort in a higher grade following a win. Metro Warrior stuck on gamely to just hold onto a placing chasing the leader on the grandstand side. He's an honest 1,000m sprinter in Class Three. Favourite Seasons Wit had his chance but only plodded after a speed-chasing run. He couldn't build on a debut second at the Valley but its still early days for the three-yearold. Pleasant Endeavor just missed the frame after a prominent run on the stands side. He went OK carrying more weight following a win. Run Run Cool ran on to finish next best travelling third last after a tardy start. California Rad held his ground from midfield on the grandstand side. He'll need to drop further in the handicaps.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (528) - SHAW ALUMNI HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000Meters

On jumping, NAMJONG SINGS and TALENTS SUPREMO were badly crowded for room between CHEVAL VALIANT which shifted out and READY TO WIN which was taken in by SAVVY DELIGHT which shifted in after bumping with FLYING DRAGON.

FLYING HIGH jumped only fairly and was then hampered when crowded by METRO WARRIOR which shifted in.

Near the 700 Metres, PLEASANT ENDEAVOR and SEASONS WIT bumped due to PLEASANT ENDEAVOR shifting in slightly.

For a short distance near the 400 Metres, PLEASANT ENDEAVOR raced tight to the outside of METRO WARRIOR.

Over the final 400 Metres, READY TO WIN (L Currie) hung in and proved difficult to ride out.

L Currie was warned in relation to using the whip forward of the horse's saddle.

After the race, K Teetan (TALENTS SUPREMO) stated that his mount was left racing without cover throughout the event and this was the principal reason for the horse's disappointing performance.

A veterinary inspection of TALENTS SUPREMO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Also after the race, A Badel (NAMJONG SINGS) reported that his mount failed to travel at any stage of the event and was most disappointing.

A veterinary inspection of NAMJONG SINGS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of NAMJONG SINGS, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, NAMJONG SINGS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Following the race, it was reported that CALIFORNIA RAD had bled from both nostrils.

A veterinary inspection of SEASONS WIT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

SEASONS WIT, FLYING HIGH and CHEVAL VALIANT were sent for sampling.
