Recap by phillip woo

Lost Child just wore down Ariel over the last 100m after travelling on his lonesome behind midfield for a first win at his third start. He relished a step up to 1,400m after catching the eye in his first two 1,200m starts. Ariel kept on gamely after surging to the lead near the 200m tracking the leader on the fence. He's run well to place twice over 1,400m from his past three starts following a downgrade. Favourite Galvanic ran on steadily travelling one off from midfield to fill a placing without threatening the top two. Publicist filled the frame after a handy run on the fence. He had his chance. Well-backed late General Winner made good ground late after making his run five back and one off the fence. He ran all right after choosing to remain in Class Four off a light weight. Kasi Farasi came up one paced over the final 100m with his bid from midfield on the fence. He has found things harder in his past three after a win. Superb Move ran on without threatening travelling four from the rear. He ran OK first start since November. Gallant Hero beat nearly half the field after making his run two from the rear. He's not genuine.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (525) - NEW ASIA ALUMNI HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters

YELLOWFIN was withdrawn on 25.3.23 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left hind) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter SUPERB MOVE (S De Sousa).

Before being allowed to race again, YELLOWFIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

STRATHPEFFER jumped awkwardly and made contact with the right side of its barrier.

A short distance later, STRATHPEFFER then bumped heavily with SINGAPORE SPIRIT which was taken out by BLISSFUL LIFE, resulting in STRATHPEFFER and SINGAPORE SPIRIT becoming unbalanced.

SINGAPORE SPIRIT lost its left hind plate at the start.

FLYING GALLOP was slow to begin and then was checked when crowded between LOST CHILD and SUPERB MOVE which shifted out.

In the early stages, FLYING GALLOP over-raced and refused to settle.

From the outside barrier, MILLENNIUM FALCON was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

In the middle stages, GALVANIC raced keenly.

Approaching the 300 Metres, KASI FARASI was held up for clear running when endeavouring to improve into a narrow run between DIAMOND FLARE and GALVANIC.

When questioned, K C Leung (BLISSFUL LIFE) explained that he was instructed to have his mount ridden just off the speed, however, he was left with no other option but to lead with the horse racing keenly and returning from a long spell and blinkers on.

After the race, M F Poon (GALLANT HERO) reported that his mount was reluctant to race inside other runners and particularly in the Straight lay in and proved difficult to ride out.

A veterinary inspection of GALLANT HERO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Also after the race, SINGAPORE SPIRIT was noted to have a small amount of blood at its mouth.

A veterinary inspection of STRATHPEFFER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

GALVANIC, LOST CHILD and ARIEL were sent for sampling.
