Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Sixth Generation kept on gamely after hitting the front 100m out following a prominent run for a second win from his past three starts and first over the Valley 1,650m. Packing Succeeder ran on nicely with one wider out to finish a close second following a one-off trip from midfield. It was another good effort following a win. V Chevaliers worked home well near the inside to fill a placing following a rails run from behind midfield. He has been around the mark in his past three starts. World Famous hung on all right for fourth after getting softened for the lead by Viva Popcorn 1,000m out. It was his best run of the campaign off a career low of 58. Happy Jai Jai had no excuse from the box seat. He's itching for a return to Class Five. Viva Popcorn succumbed 100m out after rushing forward from the widest gate to challenge for the lead 1,000m out. He had an excuse. Punted late, Ensured made headway late without menacing after making his run two from the rear. He's in the right grade. Cordyceps One failed to lift when asked for an effort following a one-out, one-back run.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (517) - CHANCERY HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters

ENSURED, which was slow to begin, was then crowded soon after the start between WORLD FAMOUS and SIXTH GENERATION, both of which shifted ground.

CHARMING STEED jumped awkwardly and lost ground and was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

VIVA POPCORN raced wide and without cover throughout the early stages and with the moderate pace was allowed to stride forward where it obtained a position outside the lead approaching the 1000 Metres.

VIVA POPCORN lay out making the Home Turn and in the Straight and near the 250 Metres shifted out, briefly crowding CORDYCEPS ONE.

When questioned, Z Purton (PACKING SUCCEEDER) stated that from the 600 Metres when following SIXTH GENERATION, he remained racing behind that runner as he felt SIXTH GENERATION was providing a good trail into the Home Straight.

He said when YEABOI improved to his outside but was immediately under pressure, he elected to remain racing behind SIXTH GENERATION.

He added that when YEABOI commenced to give ground passing the 400 Metres, he shifted to the outside of SIXTH GENERATION near the 300 Metres whereby he was able to place PACKING SUCCEEDER under full pressure.

After the race, H Bowman stated that whilst ENSURED finished the race off satisfactorily, in his opinion, it was not suited by the sustained strong pace set throughout the early and middle stages of the event.

A veterinary inspection of ENSURED immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of CORDYCEPS ONE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

SIXTH GENERATION and PACKING SUCCEEDER were sent for sampling.
