Favourite G One Excellent showed a good turn of foot after a patient ride fourth from the rear to win going away. It was his third consecutive victory over Happy Valley's 1,000m after a couple of seconds on his first two appearances at the city circuit. He has the tools to continue climbing the ratings at this track. Hearty Wish came on nicely from behind midfield to grab second. It was another solid effort carrying six pounds more following his last-start win. Sergeant Pepper stayed on well for a placing after his prominent run. He is always a chance over this Happy Valley trip. Vamos made good ground near the inside after biding his time three from the rear. It was a typical effort despite his stable change. Diamond Soars grudgingly gave way after leading from gate 10 and turning the final bend two lengths on top. He was OK on his return to Class Four. Faribault had no excuse after his handy run on the fence. He has not been able to head higher in his past four starts after back-to-back wins. Fingers Crossed ran on without menacing after going back from barrier 11. He could be an interesting galloper if he drops into the cellar grade.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (497) - THE IRELAND TROPHY (HANDICAP) - Class 4 - 1000Meters

DASHING GLORY and VAMOS bumped at the start.

DIAMOND SOARS jumped awkwardly, resulting in its rider, Z Purton becoming unbalanced.

DIAMOND SOARS then shifted in, resulting in G ONE EXCELLENT being crowded between DIAMOND SOARS and CHEER FOR SOUTH which shifted out slightly.

From the outside barrier, LIFE IS GOOD was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Soon after the start, FINGERS CROSSED was hampered when DIAMOND SOARS shifted out slightly.

Then despite being ridden along in the early stages, FINGERS CROSSED failed to show sufficient pace to hold a more forward position.

Passing the 600 Metres, HAPPY HORSE was steadied to avoid DIAMOND SOARS when that runner steadied the pace in front.

FARIBAULT, which was following HAPPY HORSE, then shifted out when being steadied away from the heels of HAPPY HORSE, made contact with SERGEANT PEPPER and a short distance later was then checked to avoid HAPPY HORSE.

Near the 100 Metres, FARIBAULT raced tight between SERGEANT PEPPER and HANDSOME REBEL and then over the concluding stages FARIBAULT could not be tested when awkwardly placed close to SERGEANT PEPPER.

A veterinary inspection of CHEER FOR SOUTH and HAPPY HORSE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

G ONE EXCELLENT and HEARTY WISH were sent for sampling.
