Racing Incident Report
Race Five: (468) - THE KOWLOON TONG CLUB TROPHY (HANDICAP) - Class 4 - 1200Meters
DRAGON STAR was slow to begin and soon after was crowded between GEM OF SOUTH CHINA and GREAT FOR YOU which was taken out by SHINING FORTUNE.
In this incident, GREAT FOR YOU became unbalanced.
Then despite being ridden along in the early stages, DRAGON STAR failed to show sufficient pace to hold a more forward position.
MILLENNIUM FALCON jumped awkwardly.
THE MULTIPLIER shifted out at the start and bumped LUCKY RUBY.
GREAT FOR YOU was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
M L Yeung (GEM OF SOUTH CHINA) stated that his mount failed to show any pace today, was caught wide and when he felt that there was something amiss with the horse near the 400 Metres, he eased it down from the event.
A veterinary inspection of GEM OF SOUTH CHINA immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
The performance of GEM OF SOUTH CHINA, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, GEM OF SOUTH CHINA will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a series of consecutive barrier trials and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of GREAT FOR YOU immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
THE MULTIPLIER and CALIFORNIA CONCORD were sent for sampling.

Post-time favourite The Multiplier edged clear after poking his head in front from California Concord 250m out following a pace-pressing run for a second win and first in Class Four over the dirt 1,200m. He relished the step back in distance after two positive runs over 1,650m. California Concord grudgingly gave way after getting pressured for the lead from gate one. He's a winner waiting to happen if he remains in the grade. Shining Fortune ran on steadily to grab third without threatening the top pair after a wide with cover trip from midfield. It was another honest effort on this surface. Early favourite Yellowfin had his chance after a prominent run. He is consistent without winning. Lucky Ruby came up one paced after a handy run on the fence. Valhalla made some ground without ever looking a threat from midfield in his first try on the dirt surface. He's itching for a downgrade. Sure Joyful held his ground after a one off run from midfield. The experiment on dirt failed to pan out. Millennium Star was a non-factor after an awkward start.
