Recap by phillip woo

Firming favourite E Brother led from barrier two, turned the final bend two lengths on top and just held on by a neck for his third win from his past four starts following a riding change to Silvestre de Sousa. He has had a fantastic campaign, but he may find it harder carrying a heavy weight next time out. E Rainbow made it close on the wire while just denying Savvy Delight by a lip for second following his box-seat run. It was a better effort on return to the Happy Valley 1,200m. Savvy Delight made it interesting on the line after saving ground in midfield. It was a good effort carrying top weight and he should be winning shortly if he can remain in Class Four. Timestorm dashed well after fading back from the widest gate. He could bob up at any moment. Sight Hero ran on well down the outside to finish next best after making his run fourth last from barrier nine. He has been at the mercy of bad gates in his past few starts. Lyrical Motion just held his ground after his trip one off the fence in midfield. He is limited. Sunny And Gold ran on without menacing after settling last from barrier 10. His quick back-up following his rallying third last Wednesday failed to pan out.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (439) - THE HONG KONG FOOTBALL CLUB CENTENARY CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 4 - 1200Meters

E RAINBOW jumped awkwardly.

On jumping, SAVVY DELIGHT shifted out and made contact with OUR CLASS ACT and soon after SAVVY DELIGHT was crowded by STOICISM which shifted out.

CRAIG'S MASTER jumped only fairly and shortly after the start shifted out and away from OUR CLASS ACT and was steadied away from the heels of SIGHT HERO.

Shortly after the start, SIGHT HERO and SUNNY AND GOLD bumped.

From the outside barrier, TIMESTORM, which jumped awkwardly, was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Making the first turn near the 1000 Metres, SAVVY DELIGHT commenced to race keenly and got its head up when being steadied away from E RAINBOW.

SAVVY DELIGHT continued to race keenly in the middle stages.

Throughout the early and middle stages, CRAIG'S MASTER over-raced and made the first turn near the 1000 Metres awkwardly.

After the 600 Metres, OUR CLASS ACT commenced to race keenly and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of LYRICAL MOTION.

HARMONY N HOME raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

When questioned regarding his riding in the Straight, M F Poon (TIMESTORM) stated that after following SAVVY DELIGHT, a favoured runner, in the race, he was intent to follow that runner on straightening with a view to shifting to its outside.

He said as a result he continued to maintain his focus on SAVVY DELIGHT and did not identify a run had developed back to his inside.

He said between the 150 Metres and the 100 Metres he was able to shift out across the heels of SAVVY DELIGHT whereby TIMESTORM finished the race off well.

The Stewards advised M F Poon that, wherever possible, he should ensure that he endeavours to take advantage of runs that first present themselves in a race.

A veterinary inspection of HARMONY N HOME and VANTASTIC CHOICE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

E BROTHER and E RAINBOW were sent for sampling.
