Recap by phillip woo
Well-backed Mr Ascendency got up 50m out for the win after a prominent run one off the fence. He made full use of the light weight despite a rise in class for second 1,400m win this term. The Golden Scenery dashed well from behind midfield to take second. It was another consistent performance over the 1,400m. Beluga just held on to win a blanket finish for third after hitting the front 250m out following a pace-stalking run. He is honest. Plunged late, Circuit Stellar kept on gamely from the box seat. He rarely produces a bad run but is likely to be on or near his mark. Fantastic Treasure ran on nicely from behind midfield to just miss the frame. Like the latter, he is approaching his mark. Favourite The Irishman came from near last to finish a stride further away. He has found it harder at his past three starts after a Class Two win in October. Blaze Warrior ran on without ever looking a chance from the rear of the field.
