Racing Incident Report
Race Nine: (338) - TAI TONG HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters
CHARMANDER shifted in at the start and bumped the hindquarters of NOT USUAL STAR.
MAGIC PHOENIX shifted out on jumping and bumped CRYSTAL POWERFUL.
GOLDEN EXPRESS and READY TO WIN were steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
Approaching and passing the 1000 Metres, BRAVE STAR travelled keenly and approaching the 900 Metres was awkwardly placed behind MAGIC PHOENIX which throughout the race travelled wide and without cover.
Passing the 800 Metres, GOLDEN EXPRESS raced close to the heels of NOT USUAL STAR and approaching the 300 Metres shifted out and bumped READY TO WIN, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced.
After the race, Z Purton (DREAM PURSUER) reported that after beginning only fairly, he was able to obtain a position in about midfield.
He said DREAM PURSUER came under pressure after the 600 Metres and despite being ridden out in the early part of the Straight did not quicken as he anticipated.
He said after this DREAM PURSUER did not finish the race off and, in his opinion, was very disappointing.
He added at its only other race start in Hong Kong, DREAM PURSUER was able to make its run to the outside of horses whereas today having drawn the inside barrier the horse was required to race amongst runners.
A veterinary inspection of DREAM PURSUER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
GOLDEN EXPRESS, NOT USUAL STAR and MARK THE MOMENT were sent for sampling.

Rank outsider Not Usual Star dashed well to get up in the final stride from behind midfield to win a blanket finish. He was able to build on an OK effort from midfield on his debut last month. Punted late Mark The Moment found one too good after briefly hitting the front 50m out tracking the leader Majestic Knight from a wide draw. He can bob up at any moment after seconds once on each Sha Tin surface over 1,200m from three starts. Naboo Legend finished a close third after a handy run. It was an improved effort after misfiring in his opening two local runs, once with blood in his trachea. Plunged late Majestic Knight was swamped in the late stages after rushing forward to lead from a middle draw. It was another honest effort carrying top weight. Favourite Golden Express ran on without menacing near the outside after making his run three from the rear. He got too far back in the run. Ready To Win ran on without threatening down the outside after making his run one from the rear. Pulsar Strider peaked on his run 50m out after looming a chance 150m out from behind midfield.
