Race Three: (273) - ERICA HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

A short distance after the start, SPEEDY FORTUNE and SMART LEADER were both crowded for room and then subsequently were checked between INNO TECH WINNER which shifted out and away from ALLGREEKTOME and I GIVE which jumped awkwardly and shifted in away from MULTISUPER.

From wide barriers, STRATHPEFFER and TRUST ME were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

After passing the 900 Metres, TRUST ME raced in restricted room for a short distance between NORDIC COMBINED and STRATHPEFFER which shifted out when making the turn.

On entering the Home Straight, I GIVE lay in and took some time to be shifted out from behind MULTISUPER to obtain clear running near the 300 Metres.

STRATHPEFFER, when making ground, was held up inside the final 150 Metres when disappointed for running behind ALLGREEKTOME which was weakening quickly and NORDIC COMBINED which shifted in under pressure.

Because of this, STRATHPEFFER was not fully tested to the winning post.

Inside the final 100 Metres, ALLGREEKTOME, which was giving ground, became unbalanced after being bumped by NORDIC COMBINED which continued to shift in despite the efforts of its rider.

Throughout the race, ROYAL AGILITY travelled wide and without cover.

After the race, L Currie (ALLGREEKTOME) could offer no tangible excuse for today's disappointing performance.

He said his mount travelled comfortably during the race and even after having received a bump inside the final 100 Metres ALLGREEKTOME at that stage was already giving ground.

A veterinary inspection of ALLGREEKTOME immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea.

SUPER HIGHWAY and MULTISUPER were sent for sampling.
