Racing Incident Report
Race Nine: (270) - SATURN HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters
FAULDS shifted out abruptly on jumping, resulting in the horse losing a considerable amount of ground.
From a wide barrier, ELON was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Approaching the turn near the 600 Metres, ELON became unbalanced after bumping the rail when racing in restricted room inside HYPER DRAGON BALL (J McNeil) which shifted in momentarily.
J McNeil was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances to ensure sufficient racing room is provided to runners to his inside.
After passing the 200 Metres, HYPER DRAGON BALL, which was commencing to make ground, was steadied and shifted out to avoid the heels of GLORIOUS STARLIGHT which was giving ground.
After passing the 150 Metres, GOLDEN LINK, which was laying in under pressure, was shifted out from behind WINNING ICEY to obtain clear running.
Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that the riding of J McNeil (HYPER DRAGON BALL) over the concluding stages did not affect the horse's finishing position, he was nonetheless reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out at least hands and heels to the end of the race where circumstances permit.
When questioned regarding his tactics adopted on SUPER FORTUNE tonight, particularly between the 1000 Metres and the 600 Metres, K Teetan explained that his instructions, as usual, were to be positive and from a wide barrier SUPER FORTUNE was required to do a significant amount of work in the early and middle stages in an effort to initially clear NORDIC DRAGON.
He said however that once passing the 800 Metres he made the decision to continue to press forward rather than break his mount's momentum and crossed to the lead near the 600 Metres.
He added that given SUPER FORTUNE's consistent racing pattern, it was not an option to restrain the horse and settle outside SMOKEY BEAR which was leading approaching the 700 Metres.
A veterinary inspection of SUPER FORTUNE, SCOTCH TYCOON and SMOKEY BEAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
NORDIC DRAGON and EXCELLENT PEERS were sent for sampling.

Race 2 (253) Near the 1100 Metres, E RAINBOW blundered when positioned close to the heels of MACH TEN which was being steadied to obtain cover.

Race 3 (254) Approaching the 100 Metres, COOL BLUE was steadied and shifted to the outside of FLYING HIGH when disappointed for running between that horse and SUPER FAST DRAGON.

Racing Laboratory tests of PERFECT PEACH, CIRCUIT MIGHTY, HORSESAIN BOLT, MIGHTY STRIDE, REGENCY BO BO, MARVEL DRAGON, VICTOR THE WINNER, DRAGON'S LUCK, DECISIVE TWELVE, STONE AGE, WIN MARILYN, BOTANIK, LUCKY SWEYNESSE, WELLINGTON, SIGHT SUCCESS, SWEET ENCOUNTER, SECRET VISION, CALIFORNIA SPANGLE, GOLDEN SIXTY, ROMANTIC WARRIOR, DANON THE KID, GOLDEN EXPRESS, SUPER SUNNY SING, VOYAGE BUBBLE, THE IRISHMAN, BLAZE WARRIOR and BEAUTY LIVE (11.12.22) proved negative.

Favourite Nordic Dragon took control 180m after chasing the speed in third to remain perfect in two starts over the Valley 1,200m despite a rise in class. He clearly has a bright future. Excellent Peers ran on well ducking back inside on straightening to finish a clearcut second from near the back. He is yet to miss the quinella spot in eight starts since joining the Frankie Lor Fu-chuen stable. Outsider Golden Link came from last and widest out at the head of the straight to edge Lucky Archangel for third without menacing the top pair. It was a better effort in a rare appearance over the Valley 1,200m. Plunged late, Lucky Archangel had his chance after making his run one off the fence from midfield. He is just not good enough at this level. Elon made some ground late to finish next best after making his run fourth last. He is still trying to find a bottom. Winning Icey came up flat after a handy run. It was a disappointing effort with a return to the course and distance of two earlier wins and a third this term. Super Fortune weakened in the run to the wire after working hard to lead 800m out from a wide gate. The switch to the Valley backfired.
