Firming favourite A Pal won with plenty in hand after hitting the front 250m out following a dream run. He was able to build on a near win second-up and clearly has room to head higher. Decrypt came from near last and widest out to grab second. He relished a return to his favourite 1,400m after a flat run at the Valley. Czarson came from last with one wider out to make it close for second. It was a good effort after running well in two earlier runs on his preferred AWT surface. The Runner stayed on reasonably well after a speed-tracking run. He can produce an odd good run over this trip. Red Titan ran on steadily to just finish out of the frame after a one-off run better than midfield. It was another honest effort. Helene Wisdom Star ran on without menacing settling two from the rear. He's itching for a downgrade. Golden Empire made some ground without threatening after a wide run with cover fourth from the rear. He appears from his past few runs to be on his mark. Horsesain Bolt was held up for most the straight after making his run one off behind midfield.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (144) - ELEANOR HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1400Meters

SNAFFLES shifted out at the start and bumped HORSESAIN BOLT.

CZARSON and INVINCIBLE MISSILE began only fairly.

From a wide barrier, DECRYPT was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

M L Yeung (THE RUNNER) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that by shifting in when steadying his mount, he allowed THE RUNNER to shift in near the 1250 Metres when not clear of A PAL, resulting in that horse being taken in across the rightful running of HORSESAIN BOLT which was hampered when losing that rightful running and in turn shifting in and bumping SNAFFLES, causing that horse to also be hampered.

M L Yeung was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 20 November 2022 and to expire on Thursday, 24 November 2022 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).

In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Yeung's good race riding record.

SNAFFLES got its head on the side and made the turn approaching the 900 Metres awkwardly.

S De Sousa (KILINDINI) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that he allowed his mount to shift in for some distance approaching the 700 which resulted in SNAFFLES racing unnecessarily tight for some distance inside RED TITAN which itself was racing unnecessarily tight inside KILINDINI, the result being that after racing unnecessarily tight, SNAFFLES lost the running to which it was rightfully entitled passing the 600 Metres.

S De Sousa was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 27 November 2022 and to expire on Thursday, 1 December 2022 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).

In addition, Jockey De Sousa was fined $30,000.

HORSESAIN BOLT had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight and near the 250 Metres was checked away from the heels of KILINDINI when unable to improve between that horse and MASTER HERO.

Passing the 200 Metres, MASTER HERO was crowded for room between GOLDEN EMPIRE and KILINDINI (S De Sousa) which shifted out.

S De Sousa was reprimanded and told to ensure that he makes more effort than he did on this occasion to prevent his mounts from shifting ground.

Then over the concluding stages, MASTER HERO was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GOLDEN EMPIRE and because of this was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race.

A veterinary inspection of SNAFFLES and KILINDINI immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of PRIVATE ROCKET immediately following the race found that horse to have an epiglottic entrapment.

A PAL and DECRYPT were sent for sampling.
