Racing Incident Report
Race Three: (49) - SHEUNG WAN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters
PERFECT TO GREAT was slow to begin and then shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of KUNGFUMASTER PANDA which began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of SUPERB MOVE, resulting in that horse becoming further unbalanced after initially being bumped by EVER LAUGH on jumping.
RIGHT HONOURABLE shifted out at the start and hampered SEAWEED FORTUNE.
From the outside barrier, RAINBOW LIGHT was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
Passing the winning post on the first occasion, SEAWEED FORTUNE was steadied away from the heels of RIGHT HONOURABLE which shifted in.
After this, SEAWEED FORTUNE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of RIGHT HONOURABLE.
Passing the 1300 Metres, EVER LAUGH, which was travelling keenly, shifted out away from behind FEARLESS FIRE and bumped FREE FOAL.
After this, FREE FOAL travelled wide and without cover until after the 1000 Metres.
At the entrance to the Straight, KUNGFUMASTER PANDA was brushed by SEAWEED FORTUNE which shifted out away from the heels of PAINTER to obtain clear running.
After the 300 Metres, PAINTER was momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of FREE FOAL due to both horses shifting ground.
Passing the 150 Metres, K C Leung (PAINTER) momentarily dropped his right rein.
Passing the 50 Metres, EVER LAUGH shifted out and bumped PAINTER.
After the race, K C Leung stated that, in his opinion, the performance of PAINTER tonight was better than it may appear.
He said after commencing to improve its position near the 700 Metres, PAINTER raced three wide and without cover and then was taken wider again after the 600 Metres when FREE FOAL shifted out from behind FEARLESS FIRE.
He added that after covering ground approaching and rounding the Home Turn PAINTER stayed on satisfactorily until the concluding stages at which time the horse's condition gave out.
A veterinary inspection of PAINTER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
PAINTER, SEAWEED FORTUNE and AMAZING BOY were sent for sampling.

Seaweed Fortune quickened nicely from behind midfield to take control 50m out for his third career win and second over this Valley trip from 17 starts. He goes well fresh and it was a solid training feat after his last-start defeat with a nose bleed. Amazing Boy was just overhauled late after moving to the lead 150m out following a dream run in the box seat. It was a solid effort following his first-up win. Kungfumaster Panda stayed on nicely one after a one-off trip in midfield to finish a close third. He was able to build on his first-up fourth for his new trainer and he seems to be crying out for 1,800m. Rainbow Light closed late down the far outside to fill the frame after settling last from the widest gate. It was a better effort with a return to the course and distance of a past win. Punted late, Free Foal came up one paced after working too hard to find a one-out, one-back position from his wide draw. He had an excuse. Old-timer Fearless Fire was yielding ground 100m out after a pace-stalking run outside Superb Move. It was a shade better effort than his opening run this term. Painter had no more to offer over the final 200m after circling the field from near last 600m out. He remains a work in progress.
