Recap by phillip woo
California Vanes was soon up stalking the speed despite dipping just after the start, hit the front 100m out and kept on gamely for a second career win at his first try on the AWT at his ninth start. It wasn't a strong Class Four but he's shown good versatility on both surfaces. Miracles rallied nicely to finish a close second after settling second last from the widest draw. He lived up to a good trial win on the dirt. Well-backed late Luck Star made it interesting on the wire after a one-off trip in midfield. He showed some progress late last season for his new trainer and didn't mind the switch in surfaces. Colourful Prince just lost a placing late after dictating the run. He's limited and destined for Class Five. Favourite Telecom Missile couldn't go on inside the final 100m after looming a chance 200m out following a box-seat run. He was having his first run of the campaign but seems limited to Class Five. Viva A La made some ground without ever looking a threat from the rear of the field at just his second career start and first on the surface. Win Win Charity failed to get involved from out back in his initial run on the dirt.
