Wind Speeder responded nicely to take control 50m out after getting a lovely run one-off better than midfield for a first win at his 15th start. He lived up to a positive performance eight days back and can win again in the grade. Early favourite Harmony N Home just found one too good after making his run one-off in midfield. He continues to knock on the door in his past five starts following a downgrade. Gem Of South China was overhauled late after giving a cheeky sight in front from gate one. It was a vastly improved second-up effort with a switch to the Valley. Touch Faith just held on for fourth after a rail-hugging run in midfield. It was one of his better efforts in Class Four with a riding change to Zac Purton. Fast Pace ran on steadily late along the inside to just miss fourth by a bob of the heads following a one-off trip behind midfield after a sluggish start. It wasn't a bad run over an inadequate trip. Loriz weakened after chasing the speed three wide without cover as the post-time favourite. He had an excuse but has been costly with strong market support in his past three starts. Farshad gave up the chase 200m out after finding nothing after straightening towards the rear from a wide draw.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (802) - HARCOURT HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Just prior to the start being effected, WIN WIN CHARITY turned its head to the right and consequently was slow to begin.

FAST PACE (L Ferraris) began awkwardly and lost ground.

After the race, L Ferraris reported that FAST PACE was making an abnormal breathing noise on pulling up.

A veterinary inspection of FAST PACE immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer?? From the outside barrier, TRIPLE TRIPLE was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.

Despite being ridden along in the early stages, HARMONY N HOME failed to muster speed.

Making the turn after the 600 Metres, LORIZ shifted in and was awkwardly placed outside the heels of ISLAND SURPRISE.

NOIR RIDER, which was following LORIZ, lost ground when steadied away from the heels of that horse in consequence.

Passing the 150 Metres, GEM OF SOUTH CHINA shifted out under pressure.

LORIZ and NOIR RIDER travelled wide and without cover throughout.

After the race, A Badel stated that with the blinkers back on tonight, he was able to obtain a forward position on ISLAND SURPRISE without having to make too much use of his horse.

He said ISLAND SURPRISE travelled strongly outside the lead in the middle stages and he anticipated that when placed under pressure, the horse would finish the race off well.

He said after having to commence to ride his mount along prior to the 400 Metres, ISLAND SURPRISE was then very disappointing in the manner in which it failed to finish the race off in the Straight.

A veterinary inspection of ISLAND SURPRISE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Also after the race, J Moreira expressed concern regarding the action of FARSHAD.

Before being allowed to race again, FARSHAD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on NOIR RIDER at the request of Trainer T P Yung.

The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in its trachea and also found the horse to be a "roarer??which had previously been reported.

LORIZ, WIND SPEEDER and HARMONY N HOME were sent for sampling.
