Recap by phillip woo
The Rock kept finding to just hold the late surge of favourite Running Glory after angling to the middle of the track 350m out dictating the run to ring up a first win this season. He had produced an odd good run from nine other starts. Firming favourite Running Glory came from near last on the extreme outside to make it close on the wire and share second with California Ten. It was another fine effort up in grade off a light weight. California Ten stuck on nicely to share second near the grandstand side after going forward from a wide draw to chase the speed wide without cover from the 1,200m. he can produce a good run now and then. Beluga found a few too good in the end but had his chance sticking to the inside after a prominent run on the fence. He rarely produces a bad run but is likely on or near his mark. Beauty Fit came up one-paced over the final 150m following a speed-tracking run. He's better ridden held up for a run. C P Brave never fired after travelling at the rear of the field despite gate one. It was an out-of-character performance. Well-backed Charity Grace only plodded when asked for an effort travelling one-off in midfield. He wasn't up to the challenge carrying a light weight in a higher class.
