Racing Incident Report
Race Nine: (652) - HYDRANGEA HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters
SUPER HIGHWAY and CITY LEGEND began only fairly.
LORIZ shifted out at the start and bumped RED BRICK FIGHTER.
LEISURE AND GOLD, DUBLIN STAR and MANY GAINS were crowded for room on jumping between SUPER RED DRAGON which shifted out and TRUST ME (K H Chan) which, when being ridden along, shifted in.
K H Chan was advised to make every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground in similar circumstances.
After this, LEISURE AND GOLD, DUBLIN STAR and MANY GAINS were all shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
After being ridden along for some distance in the early stages to obtain a forward position, TRUST ME travelled keenly in the lead after the 1000 Metres.
Passing the 1300 Metres, SUPER HIGHWAY raced tight outside the heels of ERIMO.
Near the 900 Metres, DUBLIN STAR was left racing wide and without cover.
SUPER HIGHWAY had some difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the Home Turn.
In the early part of the Straight, LEISURE AND GOLD raced greenly and shifted ground on a number of occasions.
Approaching the 100 Metres, RAINBOW LIGHT shifted out under pressure and was momentarily awkwardly placed inside ERIMO.
A veterinary inspection of GREAT TREASURE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
ERIMO and SUPER RED DRAGON were sent for sampling.

Firming favourite Erimo just held off Super Red Dragon for the win after surging to the lead 100m out after making his run five back on the fence until peeling into the open rounding the final bend. The win was forthcoming after placing in his first three starts. Super Red Dragon finished nicely with two wider out to make it close on the wire after settling just outside and behind the winner in the run. He can bob up now and then. Rainbow Light found a couple too good in the end after briefly finding the front 150m out following a one-off trip in midfield. It was a better effort in a rare appearance on the Sha Tin turf. Super Highway ran on late with one wider out to just finish out of the placings after a patient ride three from the rear. He was able to build on an unlucky effort last start over this trip. Red Brick Fighter made a mild bid after a rails run in midfield. He won last start in Class Five but finds it tough in this grade. Apex Top came up one-paced after finding a prominent spot on the fence from gate 14. He too has found things harder in his past two runs. Loriz had his chance after a pace-stalking run but had no more to offer 100m out. He doesn't run out a strong 1,400m.
