Recap by phillip woo

Firming favourite Beauty Joy quickened nicely to take control 130m out after a midfield run despite lugging top weight. He has improved markedly to win three times. Savaquin ran on nicely to grab second after making his run five back and one off the fence. He's racing well without winning at both tracks. Turin Redsun finished nicely travelling fourth last and one off the fence to fill a placing. He might prefer a longer trip. Flying Quest finished tidily through the middle to get the bob in for a slice of the Quartet after biding his time third last near the inside. He's been a good money spinner for connections over the years. Specked late, Bourbonaire ran on well near the inside from behind midfield to just miss the frame. It was an improved effort second up over a longer trip and he's crying out for even further. Soulmate was done 100m out after working too hard finding the front from All For St Paul's 1,000m from home.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (608) - BULLISH LUCK HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1600Meters

CIRCUIT THREE was slow to begin and from the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

BEAUTY JOY shifted out on jumping and bumped SAVAQUIN which in turn shifted out, resulting in FLYING QUEST, which on jumping lay in, being awkwardly placed outside the hindquarters of SAVAQUIN.

TURIN REDSUN shifted in at the start and bumped ALL FOR ST PAUL'S.

For some distance after the 800 Metres, BEAUTY JOY got its head up on a number of occasions when racing close to the heels of BELUGA.

BOURBONAIRE had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight and approaching the 300 Metres shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of ALL FOR ST PAUL'S.

Near the 250 Metres, K H Chan (SOULMATE) dropped his whip.

After the race, K Teetan (CALIFORNIA TEN) stated that his mount raced one-paced and was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to finish the race off in the Straight.

A veterinary inspection of CALIFORNIA TEN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Also after the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on CIRCUIT THREE at the request of Trainer T P Yung.

The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea.

A veterinary inspection of BELUGA immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

BEAUTY JOY and SAVAQUIN were sent for sampling.
