Favourite Eason rushed forward to lead 750m out from the widest draw before running away to ring up a third success to go along with three seconds from his six starts. The well-backed Toronado Phantom dashed nicely to edge Gluck Racer for second after a one-off run behind midfield. He's racing well but has run into a couple of nice types in his past three starts carrying big weights. Gluck Racer gave a terrific sight to just miss a quinella spot after a wide run without cover in midfield. He ran a cracker in his first start back after bleeding in December. Specked late, Joyful Win manged to secure a spot in the frame after a one-off run in midfield. He's given a decent sight in back-to-back runs following a step up to 1,200m. Excellent Daddy ran on steadily to earn a minor cheque after a wide run with cover behind midfield. It was a better run on his past few following a gear change and a switch to the Valley. Super Dobbin was stopping 50m out after a pace-stalking run. He continues to find it hard after a win in January. Wind N Grass had plenty underneath but could never gain a run in the stretch drive after settling last from a wide draw. He should have finished closer.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine: (584) - BOWRINGTON HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters

On arrival at the start, L Hewitson expressed concern regarding the action of EXCELLENT DADDY.

EXCELLENT DADDY was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said that after the necessary consultations the horse was suitable to race.

TORONADO PHANTOM shifted out at the start, resulting in MERCURIAL and SUPER DOBBIN being crowded for room inside GLUCK RACER which also shifted in.

From a wide barrier, WIND N GRASS was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.

When also being steadied from a wide barrier, MAJESTIC KNIGHT commenced to travel ungenerously passing the 1100 Metres and became unbalanced when being shifted across behind EXCELLENT DADDY.

After the 700 Metres, GLUCK RACER was left racing wide and without cover.

Near the 150 Metres, WIND N GRASS was held up for clear running when unable to improve between GLUCK RACER and TORONADO PHANTOM.

WIND N GRASS then had difficulty obtaining clear running until after the 100 Metres.

Passing the 100 Metres, M L Yeung (WOOD ON FIRE) dropped his right rein.

Close to the finishing line, MERCURIAL raced tight inside SUPER DOBBIN which itself was racing in restricted room inside JOYFUL WIN.

Because of this, MERCURIAL was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race.

After the race, Z Purton was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of STOCK LEGEND which did not finish the race off as well as anticipated.

A veterinary inspection of STOCK LEGEND immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

EASON and TORONADO PHANTOM were sent for sampling.

GENERAL:

10 April 2022 Sha Tin Racemeeting - Race 9 (574) In accordance with normal practice, the Stewards reviewed the videos from the Sha Tin racemeeting conducted last Sunday, 10 April 2022 and considered it necessary to question J Moreira regarding his riding of VOYAGE BUBBLE after the 200 Metres.

J Moreira stated that after leading the race, VOYAGE BUBBLE came under heavy pressure prior to the 300 Metres.

He said when VOYAGE BUBBLE came under pressure, the horse commenced to lay in and proved difficult to ride.

He said despite being ridden out, VOYAGE BUBBLE commenced to weaken approaching the 200 Metres and runners to his outside were able to establish a margin over VOYAGE BUBBLE.

He added that VOYAGE BUBBLE continued to lay in, however, he felt that he had ridden the horse out all the way to the end of the race as best as he could in the circumstances.

He said despite being ridden out, VOYAGE BUBBLE continued to weaken over the concluding stages and did not finish the race off.

Jockey Moreira was advised that his explanation would be reported, however, in the opinion of the Stewards, there was a period approaching and passing the 150 Metres in which his vigour had reduced.

However, as the Stewards formed the view that PACKING TREADMILL, which finished 3rd, continued to establish a margin over VOYAGE BUBBLE over the concluding stages and that MR VALIANT, which finished 4th, had come from behind VOYAGE BUBBLE to finish in front of that horse at the end of the race, they were not of the view that his riding of the horse at the relevant time had impacted on its final finishing position.

J Moreira was told that the Stewards had had cause to speak to him on a number of occasions this season regarding his riding out of horses and he must ensure that he rides his mounts out with sufficient purpose and vigour and to the best of his ability wherever circumstances permit.

Racing Laboratory tests of SCIENCE PATCH, WOODFIRE BRO, G ONE EXCELLENT, KUNG FU TEA, NOBLE MAN, EN POINTE, ROYAL BOMB, LEADING FORTUNE, PRECISE EXPRESS, TOTAL POWER, SAKEWIN, RHAPSODY, SPARKY STAR, HAPPY DAY, SUPER HORNET, MASTER EIGHT, WELLINGTON, SIGHT SUCCESS, FREE FOAL, DRAGON PRIDE, PRESIDENT'S CHOICE, GOLDEN SIXTY, RUSSIAN EMPEROR, SUPER FORTUNE, ROCK YA HEART and FIVE ELEMENTS (3.4.22) proved negative.
