Racing Incident Report
Race Ten: (556) - HARLECH HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters
At the time of declaration, K C Leung notified a probable overweight of 2 lbs in respect of WAR OF COURAGE's allocated weight of 115 lbs.
K C Leung then weighed in an additional 1 lb overweight, resulting in Jockey Leung weighing in 3 lbs over the horse's allocated weight.
Jockey Leung was fined the sum of $7,500.
COMING PATCH began only fairly and then shifted in towards the heels of ATULLIBIGEAL.
PRINCE ALEX also began only fairly and then was crowded for room between KING LAND and TEAM SPIRIT which shifted in.
From the outside barriers, PINS PRINCE and FIVE ELEMENTS were steadied to obtain cover in the early stages.
Despite being vigorously ridden for a considerable distance in the early stages, TEAM SPIRIT (K H Chan) failed to muster speed and then near the 800 Metres was left racing wide and without cover.
After the race, K H Chan reported that TEAM SPIRIT was never comfortable in its action today and after being placed under pressure after the 600 Metres commenced to give ground.
He said as the horse was not stretching out, he eased it down in the Straight.
A veterinary inspection of TEAM SPIRIT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
In the circumstances, the Stewards ruled that prior to being permitted to race again, TEAM SPIRIT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a series of consecutive barrier trials and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
After the 800 Metres, PINS PRINCE commenced to travel keenly and was awkwardly placed behind ATULLIBIGEAL.
Close to the finishing line, PINS PRINCE raced tight between ROCK YA HEART and FIVE ELEMENTS.
Because of this, PINS PRINCE was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SUPER FORTUNE, M F Poon stated that after initially being challenged by KING LAND as that horse shifted to the outside of SUPER FORTUNE after the 1000 Metres, he was able to enjoy an uncontested lead when KING LAND was steadied by its rider after the 900 Metres.
He said SUPER FORTUNE travelled strongly in the middle stages, however, changed lead legs on a number of occasions rounding the Home Turn.
He said he placed SUPER FORTUNE under pressure after the 400 Metres and immediately became concerned as the horse did not quicken as he anticipated.
He said both KING LAND and ROCK YA HEART were able to improve forward of SUPER FORTUNE near the 200 Metres and after this SUPER FORTUNE was disappointing in its failure to finish the race off.
A veterinary inspection of SUPER FORTUNE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
The performance of SUPER FORTUNE, which finished towards the rear of the field as a last start winner and favourite for today's race, was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, SUPER FORTUNE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of WAR OF COURAGE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
SUPER FORTUNE, ROCK YA HEART and FIVE ELEMENTS were sent for sampling.

Rock Ya Heart travelled midfield until improving to fourth rounding the final bend, surging to the front from King Land passing the 150m and holding off the late surge of Five Elements for the win. Five Elements came from towards the rear after peeling into the open 300m out to cut the margin to a neck. He's caught the eye in back-to-back runs following a move to blinkers. King Land wouldn't go down without a fight after poking his head in front 200m out stalking the leader Super Fortune from a tricky gate carrying top weight. It was an improved effort. Pins Prince got going for fourth without menacing the top three after midfield run on the fence. It was another honest effort at this level following a Class Four win in January and may be looking forward to 1,400m now. Prince Alex came from last to nearly fill the frame. It was an encouraging run on debut. Reve Parisien gradually faded after a box-seat run. He's still acclimatising. Favourite Super Fortune had no more to offer 150m out after dictating the run from gate one. He couldn't lift carrying only two pounds more following a win.
