Packing Award dashed strongly to win going away 30m out after being asked for more travelling third last at the 700m. He was able to raise his game up in grade off a light weight to remain perfect in two mile runs. Favourite Viva Hunter found one too good after surging to the front 250m out following a pace-stalking run. He's itching to add to two earlier wins with seconds in his past three starts. Beauty Glory gave a cheeky sight to hold on for third after dictating the run from a middle draw. It was a much-improved effort at his fifth local start. Zone D came from towards the rear and widest out to fill the frame. The combination of a big weight and wet track appeared to take its toll following back-to-back wins. Punted late, Amazing One Plus knocked up 100m out after looming with every chance 200m out following a box-seat run. He's just not good enough at the top of the weights. Killer Instinct stayed on all right after a wide run without cover in midfield trying the Valley 1,650m for the first time. Copartner Fionn didn't click when asked for more following a rails run in midfield. The rise in trip and switch to the Valley didn't pan out following an eye-catching debut third over the Sha Tin 1,200m.

Race Nine: (528) - SAM CHUK HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Meters

GIFT OF LIFELINE shifted in on jumping and brushed PACKING AWARD.

From a wide barrier, TOTAL POWER was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

L Ferraris (BEAUTY GLORY) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the wining post on the first occasion he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of VIVA HUNTER, causing that horse to be hampered when unnecessarily crowded for room and in turn shift in and hamper CHEVALIER PRINCE, resulting in that horse being taken in onto VILLA FIONN which lost ground when crowded for room inside CHEVALIER PRINCE.

L Ferraris was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 13 April 2022 and to expire on Sunday, 17 April 2022 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).

In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Ferraris' good race riding record.

Near the 950 Metres, VILLA FIONN was awkwardly placed behind CHEVALIER PRINCE.

KILLER INSTINCT travelled wide and without cover until the 900 Metres at which time SURREALISM was left racing wide and without cover.

Approaching the 600 Metres, GIFT OF LIFELINE was bumped on two occasions by VILLA FIONN which shifted out.

Making the turn after the 600 Metres, CHEVALIER PRINCE, which was under pressure, lay out and was awkwardly placed inside the heels of PACKING AWARD.

Passing the 300 Metres, VILLA FIONN and GIFT OF LIFELINE bumped.

Approaching the 200 Metres, L Ferraris (BEAUTY GLORY) dropped his whip.

Passing the 150 Metres, both BEAUTY GLORY and VIVA HUNTER shifted out under pressure.

After the race, A Hamelin stated that, in his opinion, VILLA FIONN did not appreciate racing on the "Yielding??surface tonight.

He said although he was not able to improve his position as he had hoped after the 700 Metres due to CHEVALIER PRINCE, which was racing in advance of VILLA FIONN, coming under pressure and not taking VILLA FIONN into the race, nonetheless when VILLA FIONN was able to obtain clear running the horse did not finish the race off.

A veterinary inspection of VILLA FIONN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

PACKING AWARD and VIVA HUNTER were sent for sampling.

After the running of Race 5, the track classification was officially changed from "Good to Yielding??to "Yielding?? This change in the opinion of the Stewards should be recorded as being retrospective.

As a consequence of this, the official results will show Race 5 being run on a track rated "Yielding??
