The well-backed Scotch Tycoon got up in deep stretch for the win after taking the short route home following a rails run behind midfield. He's done the job yet again despite a rise in grade and distance for a third win from five starts and there's likely more to come from the three-year-old. Be Ready came to win the race after a handy run but found one just too good. He relished a return to his favourite Valley 1,200m. Punted late, Star Brite wouldn't go down without a fight after finding the front 950m out from an outside draw. He had flashed potential in his first five starts. Joyful Win kept on one-paced after chasing the speed in the box-seat. It was a better effort on his past couple from a better draw. Sky Forever made late headway from last and widest out to pick up a minor cheque. He can bob up at any moment. Royal Pride ran on without menacing from towards the rear after a slow start. It was one of his better runs. Favourite Armour Eagle was gone 100m out after chasing the leader one-off the fence. He wasn't able to cope carrying 11 pounds more following a last-start win. Wood On Fire made some ground without ever looking a threat near the outside after a one-off run.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (508) - CHESTER HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters

ROYAL PRIDE was slow to begin.

From the outside barrier, SKY FOREVER was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.

After being steadied in the early stages, A SMILE LIKE YOURS was left racing wide and without cover passing the 900 Metres.

Near the 450 Metres, WOOD ON FIRE and A SMILE LIKE YOURS raced tight as WOOD ON FIRE shifted to the outside of BE READY.

After the 200 Metres, SCOTCH TYCOON commenced to lay out under pressure and passing the 50 Metres shifted out and inconvenienced JOYFUL WIN.

When SCOTCH TYCOON shifted out, the whip of its rider momentarily became caught underneath the neck of JOYFUL WIN.

A veterinary inspection of ARMOUR EAGLE immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea.

A veterinary inspection of TRADER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

ARMOUR EAGLE, SCOTCH TYCOON and BE READY were sent for sampling.
