Racing Incident Report
Race Four: (378) - SHAU KEI WAN HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1400Meters
DESTIN and GOLDEN FOUR began only fairly.
BRILLIANT CHINA shifted out abruptly at the start, resulting in BRAVE POWER being taken out and crowded for room inside PEARL CHAMPION which shifted in after being bumped by SUPER FLAMES which on jumping shifted out and bumped ZACIAN before shifting in and hampering PEARL CHAMPION.
When ZACIAN was bumped by SUPER FLAMES, FORTUNE MASTER, which was drawn outside ZACIAN, was also bumped.
THE JOLLY was slow to begin and then from the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
When being steadied to race outside the lead after the 1200 Metres, ZACIAN travelled keenly and got its head up on a number of occasions.
ZACIAN then continued to travel keenly when being steadied approaching and passing the 1000 Metres to obtain cover behind YOUNG VICTORY.
Rounding the Home Turn, WINWIN THIRTYTHREE raced tight outside BRILLIANT CHINA as that horse attempted to shift to the outside of PEARL CHAMPION.
Then after being unable to improve between those horses, BRILLIANT CHINA got its head on the side and lay in across the heels of PEARL CHAMPION passing the 400 Metres.
BRAVE POWER had some difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 350 Metres when being shifted to the outside of runners.
Passing the 300 Metres, SUPER FLAMES shifted out and brushed FORTUNE MASTER.
Approaching the 200 Metres, THE JOLLY and BRILLIANT CHINA raced tight between SUPER FLAMES and PEARL CHAMPION as BRILLIANT CHINA improved into tight running between PEARL CHAMPION and THE JOLLY.
BRILLIANT CHINA and THE JOLLY then bumped on a number of occasions after the 200 Metres.
For the majority of the race, PEARL CHAMPION travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned, J Moreira stated that he was not given any specific instructions on how to ride SUNNY BABY from the wide barrier other than to try and obtain cover, but that he had hoped to obtain a position in about midfield.
He added that after riding his mount positively in the early stages, he was not able to cross WINWIN THIRTYTHREE to his inside and therefore shortly after the start he elected to obtain cover behind that horse.
He said after the 1200 Metres SUNNY BABY was racing very wide and therefore he elected to continue to steady his mount to obtain a position closer to the rail and with cover behind BRAVE POWER.
He said this resulted in SUNNY BABY racing at the rear of the field today.
After the race, Z Purton attributed today's disappointing performance to the fact that ZACIAN did not settle for him in the middle stages.
A veterinary inspection of ZACIAN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of PEARL CHAMPION immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, PEARL CHAMPION will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of BRILLIANT CHINA and ALEE KING PRAWN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
SUNNY BABY, YOUNG VICTORY and DESTIN were sent for sampling.

Young Victory kept up a strong gallop for a comfortable win after straightening nearly two lengths on top clearing to the front 850m out from a wide draw. The downgrade worked the oracle after knocking on the door in four prior starts. Destin got the gaps when needed near the inside to grab second in deep stretch after a settling behind midfield on the fence. It was a return to form at his second run. Super Kin kept plugging away to hold a placing after chasing the speed on the fence. He continues to race well this season. Sunny Baby came from last and widest out to fill the frame. He's a winner waiting to happen. Winwin Thirtythree found a few too good but ran on all right after a deep run with cover behind midfield from a wide draw. He hasn't been able to build on a second over the Valley 1,200m. Golden Four made some ground without menacing settling five back on the fence. He produced only a similar performance to a run two back when last at this level. Zacian came up flat when asked for an effort after easing out of the early lead to travel one off in third at the 800m. He's failed to hold his form in his past two starts after reeling off four straight minor placings.
