Recap by phillip woo
Favourite Beauty Joy quickened nicely to take control 50m out after a perfect trip one off better than midfield to ring up a win once at each track and a second from three starts for his new trainer this term. He did it stylishly and can win again. Savaquin found one too smart after surging to a narrow lead 100m out after a one-off trip in midfield. It was a better effort on his past couple with his favourite rider Joao Moreira back on board. Telecom Fighters ended up a distant third after straightening near two lengths on top getting his own way in front from a tricky draw. He rarely produces a bad run over this Valley trip but the big weight didn't help. Rocket Spade closed well down the outside to just edge Solar Wai Wai for fourth after sharing last with C P Brave from a wide draw. He's run well in two of his three starts but is crying out for a longer trip. Fancied late in betting Solar Wai Wai held his ground after a box-seat run. It was another honest effort. Punted late Sunny Star ran on without menacing after a rails run behind midfield. The bigger weight and moderate pace played against him. Sunshine Warrior made only a mild bid after biding his time third last following a sluggish start. Like the latter, the tempo went against him and he's also itching for a return to Class Three.
