Recap by phillip woo
Legion Of Merit took off 1,000m travelling worse than midfield to lead 850m out, straightened two lengths on top and kept on gamely to just hold off the fast-finishing Champion Pal for the win. He lived up to an improved run on the dirt last start for his new trainer and can win again. Champion Pal rallied strongly to make it close on the wire after settling one off better than midfield. He's an improved runner following a downgrade and can bob up at any moment. Firming favourite Red Impact just held his ground after a box-seat run. The trip may have stretched him. Go Ballistic just plodded in the run to the wire after handing up the lead mid-race. He had been racing well and may have needed this outing following a stable change. Victorious Seeker came from a detached spot to finish next best. He wasn't suited by the race tempo but is likely on his mark. Star Of Glory came up one-paced after a prominent run. He's still trying to find a bottom in his 10 starts. Super Fast was gone a long way out after recovering from an awkward start to eventually stalk the leader. Sky Gem followed the move of the winner mid-race to be tracking the speed but was struggling 200m out. He's a Class Five horse.
