Recap by phillip woo
Well-backed late Healthy Happy kept on gamely to just deny Lucky Express after working to the lead near the 200m stalking the slow pace of Buddies from the 950m. It was a solid training feat to get him back to top form. Lucky Express was closing with every stride to come up a neck short after working into the clear 300m out following a patient ride one from the rear. He relished a step back to the distance of a win in November. Favourite Excellent Proposal took a while to wind up but eventually got going to fill a placing after a patient ride towards the rear in the small field. He requires a mile or 1,800m. Master Montaro only plodded after enjoying all favours in the box-seat. He's not good enough at this level. Punted late Duke Wai loomed at least a place chance at the 200m after a prominent run on the fence but came up flat 100m out. He's honest but doesn't have points in hand off his current mark. Champion's Way failed to make an impression from the back of the field.
