Racing Incident Report
Race Two: (254) - NEPTUNE HANDICAP - Class 5 - 2200Meters
AMAZING BOY began awkwardly.
SMILING FACE shifted out at the start and bumped GREAT TIMES.
FORTUNE TRIPLE shifted in at the start and inconvenienced FORTUNE PATROL which in turn shifted in and brushed EXALTATION which began only fairly.
From wide barriers, JOLLY FOREVER and SUCCESS ALLSTARS were steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
Making the first turn near the 2000 Metres, AMAZING BOY was awkwardly placed outside the heels of SMILING FACE which in turn was racing close to the heels of WEALTHY EMPLOYEE.
In the early stages, WEALTHY EMPLOYEE travelled keenly when being steadied to obtain cover.
A Badel (FORTUNE TRIPLE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the 1900 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of JOLLY FOREVER, causing that horse to be checked away from the heels of FORTUNE TRIPLE.
A Badel was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 9 January 2022 and to expire on Thursday, 13 January 2022 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).
In addition, Jockey Badel was fined $30,000.
Passing the 1800 Metres, TAILOR MADE travelled keenly outside the lead.
After the 1300 Metres, SUCCESS ALLSTARS was left racing wide and without cover at the rear of the field and passing the 1000 Metres was steadied to obtain cover behind JOLLY FOREVER.
Passing the 800 Metres, SMILING FACE was bumped and taken wider by WEALTHY EMPLOYEE which shifted out away from the heels of GREAT TIMES.
K Teetan (JOLLY FOREVER) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the 700 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of SMILING FACE, resulting in that horse being crowded for rom and taken in onto WEALTHY EMPLOYEE which was hampered and in turn taken in onto GREAT TIMES, causing that horse to also be hampered when crowded for room outside the heels of GRAND POWER.
K Teetan was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 22 December 2021 and to expire on Tuesday, 28 December 2021 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).
In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Teetan's good race riding record.
Passing the 600 Metres, GRAND POWER momentarily raced tight inside the heels of SMILING FACE which itself was racing tight inside JOLLY FOREVER.
Approaching the 200 Metres, SKY GEM was momentarily eased away from the heels of AMAZING BOY which shifted out.
Passing the 100 Metres, SKY GEM improved into restricted room between SMILING FACE and AMAZING BOY.
A veterinary inspection of TAILOR MADE and WEALTHY EMPLOYEE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
JOLLY FOREVER and GRAND POWER were sent for sampling.

Late-fancied favourite Jolly Forever asserted his authority to take control 80m out after circling the field from last to vie for the lead 700m out. The win was overdue after placing in three of five other starts this term. Grand Power fought back when headed for the lead by Smiling Face and Jolly Forever near the final bend to grab second in deep stretch. It was clearly his best run to date from 12 starts with a step up in distance. Smiling Face followed the move of Jolly Forever to go for home on top rounding the final bend after a one-off trip in midfield but peaked on his run 50m out. He's likely found his niche over the longer trips following an unlucky run last start over the 1,800m. Sky Gem just failed to place after getting impeded twice in the run to the wire following a handy run. He should have finished closer. Early favourite Amazing Boy came up one-paced after switching out abruptly for a clear run 150m out following a one-off run behind midfield coming to the final bend. He didn't quite get the trip after placing twice at a mile. Success Allstars let down late after settling one from the rear from a wide draw. He wasn't suited by the pace after going close to winning back-to-back 1,800m runs.
