Recap by phillip woo

Raging favourite Golden Sixty won going away 200m out after a ducking-and-weaving run following a rails run behind midfield for back-to-back HK Mile wins. It was a record setting 19th career win from 20 starts. More Than This finished nicely to grab second in deep stretch after a one-off run just outside the winner worse than midfield. He had run well last start on the back of a slow pace. Japan's Salios kept on well for a placing after driving to the front along the inside 1,250m. He was the best of the overseas challengers. Mother Earth ran on nicely after a patient ride one from the rear to just take fourth. It was a fine effort by the three-year-old filly from Ireland. Indy Charm just missed the frame after travelling three deep with cover behind midfield. He's always been an honest miler in Japan. Another Japan raider, Vin De Garde held his ground after a box-seat run. Waikuku kept on one-paced after a wide without cover trip in midfield. He had a clear excuse. Danon Kingly ran on without menacing after a patient ride towards the rear. Excellent Proposal found nothing when asked for more after peeling out following a perfect one-out, one-back run. He might be better ridden held up for a run.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (249) - THE LONGINES HONG KONG MILE - Class G1 - 1600Meters

MOTHER EARTH shifted in at the start and bumped VIN DE GARDE.

MORE THAN THIS shifted out on jumping and inconvenienced INDY CHAMP.

DANON KINGLY began awkwardly.

From a wide barrier, SKY DARCI was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.

At the 1400 Metres, MOTHER EARTH became unbalanced when crowded for room between GOLDEN SIXTY and INDY CHAMP (C Soumillon) which shifted in marginally.

C Soumillon was advised to exercise more care.

Passing the 1200 Metres, VIN DE GARDE momentarily raced tight inside EXCELLENT PROPOSAL which shifted in away from the heels of LUCKY EXPRESS (A Hamelin) which shifted in when not properly clear.

A Hamelin was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.

When EXCELLENT PROPOSAL was steadied away from the heels of LUCKY EXPRESS, EXCELLENT PROPOSAL shifted out and inconvenienced WAIKUKU.

After this, WAIKUKU was left racing wide and without cover.

Making the turn after the 900 Metres, MORE THAN THIS raced tight between WAIKUKU and GOLDEN SIXTY.

After the 700 Metres, MORE THAN THIS raced tight outside GOLDEN SIXTY which shifted out away from the heels of VIN DE GARDE.

Approaching the 500 Metres, INDY CHAMP was steadied when crowded for room between WAIKUKU and GOLDEN SIXTY (C Y Ho) which shifted out.

C Y Ho was reprimanded and told to ensure that he exercises due care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.

After racing tight outside SALIOS passing the 500 Metres, LUCKY EXPRESS got its head on the side and made the Home Turn awkwardly.

In the early part of the Straight, SKY DARCI got its head on the side and lay in.

SKY DARCI was then shifted out away from the heels of DANON KINGLY passing the 300 Metres.

After the 300 Metres, EXCELLENT PROPOSAL got its head on the side and lay out under pressure and near the 250 Metres bumped WAIKUKU.

A veterinary inspection of SKY DARCI and EXCELLENT PROPOSAL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

GOLDEN SIXTY and MORE THAN THIS were sent for sampling.
