Country Boy dashed nicely to overhaul debutant Eason in the final few metres for the win after a patient ride three deep towards the rear from the widest draw. He had been knocking on the door. Eason did everything right but get the win after getting his own way in front from gate three. It was a solid debut effort and he'll be winning shortly. Solar Partner kept on reasonably well to fill a placing after a pace-stalking run. He's building towards a win with placings in two of three starts. Favourite Snowalot only held his ground after a box-seat run. The big weight took its toll following a debut win. First-starter Fun N Glory made good ground late to earn a minor cheque after a patient run second last from an awkward gate. He appears to have a future ahead of him. My Intelligent made some ground after a one-off run in midfield. It was a better effort third-up. Vento only plodded one-paced under the whip after getting a perfect run in the one-one. He failed to build on a debut second with strong support and it's back to the drawing board with him. Above All had to get the vet approval after acting up before the start and had excuses after getting caught without cover in a prominent spot the entire trip.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three: (226) - GARNET HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

ABOVE ALL, which was fractious after being loaded into the barriers and reared on a number of occasions, was removed from the barriers and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.

Before being allowed to race again, ABOVE ALL will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.

HAPPY TIME shifted out at the start and bumped FUN N GLORY which in turn shifted out, resulting in FOXHUNTER WAY being steadied when crowded for room inside SOLAR PARTNER.

After this, from wide barriers, FOXHUNTER WAY and FUN N GLORY were steadied to obtain cover.

Shortly after the start, MY INTELLIGENT was bumped by RING BELLS which was taken out by EASON.

Despite being ridden along for a considerable distance in the early stages, from the outside barrier, COUNTRY BOY failed to muster speed.

LUCK STAR made the turn near the 900 Metres awkwardly, shifted out and brushed the hindquarters of HAPPY TIME.

After the 900 Metres, ABOVE ALL was left racing wide and without cover.

MY INTELLIGENT got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of VENTO approaching and passing the 700 Metres.

Near the 650 Metres, LUCK STAR was awkwardly placed close to the heels of RING BELLS.

SNOWALOT had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight.

After the race, B Shinn was not able to offer an explanation for the disappointing performance of VENTO which he said after travelling well behind the speed the horse then did not finish off the race.

A veterinary inspection of VENTO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
