Punted late, Flaming Passion responded well to take control near the 100m after enjoying a lovely run one-out, one-back for a second straight win. He's always promised to do this sort of thing and can win again if he remains in the grade. Spartan Missile stayed on well along the inside to claim second after a prominent run along the fence. It was an improved effort taking advantage of a better draw in his Valley debut. Joyful Genius made a good bid late to place after biding his time worse than midfield on the fence. He's a made a good impression in back-to-back Valley runs from three starts and will be winning shortly. Hero Star rolled forward to share the lead outside favourite Fire Ball from a wide gate, gained a clear advantage rounding the final bend and came up onepaced 50m out. He'll be a force to be reckoned with drawing closer to the fence over this course. Fire Ball quickly found the front from gate one but didn't have much left in the tank over the final 150m. He needs to be left alone in front. Ka Ying Spirit found nothing when asked for an effort after a one-off trip behind midfield. He was trying the 1,200m for the first time but has disappointed in his three starts this term after a debut win in May.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (201) - MURRAYFIELD HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

SHINY ONE began only fairly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of DASHING GENIUS which became unbalanced, shifted in and bumped KA YING SPIRIT which itself shifted out.

KA YING SPIRIT then became unbalanced and shifted out, resulting in DASHING GENIUS being taken out onto BALTIC WHISPER which was inconvenienced.

BALTIC WHISPER was then steadied to obtain cover.

CALL ME LU shifted out at the start and brushed JOYFUL GENIUS.

From the outside barrier, TAKE WHAT YOU NEED was steadied to obtain cover in the early stages.

When being steadied to obtain cover from a wide barrier, ACA POWER travelled very keenly and proved difficult to settle to obtain a trailing position behind BALTIC WHISPER.

ACA POWER then continued to race fiercely along the Back Straight which resulted in the horse being checked away from the heels of DASHING GENIUS for some distance after the 800 Metres.

When continuing to race ungenerously, ACA POWER made the turn after the 600 Metres awkwardly and shifted out.

Making the turn approaching the 1000 Metres, KA YING SPIRIT commenced to travel very keenly and got its head up repeatedly when being steadied to obtain cover behind CALL ME LU.

BALTIC WHISPER, which was following KA YING SPIRIT, was eased away from the heels of that horse in consequence near the 950 Metres.

After this, KA YING SPIRIT continued to travel very keenly and was awkwardly placed behind CALL ME LU.

After the 700 Metres, DASHING GENIUS was left racing wide and without cover.

Passing the 250 Metres, SPARTAN MISSILE was shifted to the inside of HERO STAR to obtain clear running.

Passing the 200 Metres, CALL ME LU got its head on the side and shifted out.

Passing the 150 Metres, SPARTAN MISSILE raced tight inside HERO STAR which got its head on the side and shifted in under pressure.

After the race, Z Purton (KA YING SPIRIT) said that although his mount travelled keenly in the early and middle stages, he felt that the horse was travelling well enough prior to the Home Turn to finish off the race.

He said after being shifted to the outside of CALL ME LU rounding the Home Turn, KA YING SPIRIT was inclined to lay in behind that horse and then after being shifted away from the heels of CALL ME LU then did not finish off the race.

A veterinary inspection of KA YING SPIRIT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of FIRE BALL and DASHING GENIUS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

FIRE BALL, FLAMING PASSION and SPARTAN MISSILE were sent for sampling.
