Recap by phillip woo

Sunny Star came with a withering run from last to snatch victory on the wire. He had been racing very well and the step up in class off a light weight worked the oracle. Early favourite Telecom Fighters was touched off late after moving to the lead 150m out following a pace-stalking run outside Bear Again. It was another solid run over the Valley 1,650m despite a sharp rise in weight. Late-fancied favourite Beluga closed nicely down the far outside to finish a close third after a one-off trip behind midfield. He continues his good run of form. Sunshine Warrior ran on nicely along the inside to just miss a placing after making his run five back on the fence. He's not far off a winning run over this Valley trip. Chancheng Prince just held his ground after a dream run in the box-seat. It wasn't a bad effort up in grade with a return to the turf after two AWT wins. Solar Wai Wai came up one-paced after a one-out, one-back run. He did appear to need the run yet again at just his second outing this term. Kilindini made some ground without threatening from towards the rear. He's shown some ability in his past two of three runs but is still acclimatising and likely needs a longer trip.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (184) - THE JAPAN RACING ASSOCIATION TROPHY (HANDICAP) - Class 2 - 1650Meters

At the time of declaration, L Ferraris (BEAR AGAIN, 118 lbs) notified a probable overweight of 1 lb.

At the time of weighing out, L Ferraris requested a further pound overweight which is permitted under the Rules.

L Ferraris then weighed in at 121 lbs, 3 lbs over the horse's allocated weight.

Jockey Ferraris was fined the sum of $7,500.

On arrival at the Start, the tongue tie applied to KILINDINI was replaced.

SUNSHINE WARRIOR began only fairly.

From the outside barrier, KILINDINI was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

SUNNY STAR was also steadied to obtain cover in the early stages.

Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, TELECOM FIGHTERS bumped the hindquarters of SOLAR WAI WAI due to both horses shifting ground.

After this, SOLAR WAI WAI got its head on the side and lay in away from TELECOM FIGHTERS, resulting in SOLAR WAI WAI being awkwardly placed outside the heels of BEAR AGAIN passing the 1400 Metres.

SOLAR WAI WAI then continued to race with its head on the side and lay in.

Passing the 1000 Metres, SOLAR WAI WAI was awkwardly placed behind TELECOM FIGHTERS.

Approaching the 100 Metres, THE ROCK was steadied when disappointed for running between BEAR AGAIN which was giving ground and SOLAR WAI WAI which lay in under pressure.

SAVAQUIN lost its right front plate after the race.

A veterinary inspection of THE ROCK, SAVAQUIN and BEAR AGAIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

BELUGA, SUNNY STAR and TELECOM FIGHTERS were sent for sampling.
