Recap by phillip woo
Tourbillion Diamond just held on by a bob of the heads over Ka Ying Star after hitting the front 100m following a one-out, one-back run. He had been racing well and the 19- pound swing in the weights was the difference in the end. Ka Ying Star made it close on the wire stalking the leader Reliable Team one off the fence. It was a better effort stepping up to the 1,800m. Reliable Team found a couple just too good after getting his own way in front. He can produce an odd good run now and then over this trip. Champion's Way got going late from the rear to fill the frame without menacing the top three. It was a good effort in a race run to suit those up front. Favourite Glorious Dragon was caught up in all sorts of traffic along the inside following a rails run worse than midfield. He had an excuse. Columbus County peaked on his move from towards the rear 150m out. He needs a longer trip. Butterfield came up one-paced when asked for an effort travelling one-off in midfield. He didn't get a race run to suit. Old-timer Southern Legend was always strung up in traffic after a box-seat run.
