Racing Incident Report
Race One: (47) - PERKINS HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1800Meters
MURRAY'S PARTNERS was very slow to begin.
Before being allowed to race again, MURRAY'S PARTNERS will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.
RED ELYSEES (L Ferraris) began awkwardly and then was crowded for room between ZHAN JIANG ROCKS and VILLA FIONN, both of which shifted ground.
This resulted in RED ELYSEES racing back in the field.
After the race, L Ferraris confirmed that it was intended for RED ELYSEES to be ridden in a forward position in tonight's race.
After this incident, VILLA FIONN was steadied from the outside barrier and shifted across behind runners.
Shortly after the start, METHANE was eased away from the heels of FAST PACE which shifted out.
At the entrance to the Straight, VILLA FIONN was shifted in away from the heels of GOD OF DRAGON.
Passing the 150 Metres, B Shinn (METHANE) dropped his right rein which he was able to regather after the 100 Metres.
Over the concluding stages, METHANE shifted in under pressure.
After the race, A Badel stated that he attempted to obtain a midfield position on ZHAN JIANG ROCKS, however, in the run to the winning post on the first occasion the horse was left racing wide and without cover.
He said rather than continue to race wide, he allowed ZHAN JIANG ROCKS to improve its position to race outside the lead near the 1300 Metres.
He said he was able to do this without having to make use of ZHAN JIANG ROCKS and after travelling satisfactorily in the middle stages the horse was then disappointing in the manner in which it failed to finish off the race.
A veterinary inspection of ZHAN JIANG ROCKS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
FAST PACE and METHANE were sent for sampling.

Favourite Fast Pace kept up a strong gallop for a comfortable win after an uncontested lead. He got all the favours and was sharper for two progressive runs. Methane stayed on well for second following a box-seat run. He lacked the fitness of the winner but doesn't know how to produce a bad run over this course. Punted late God Of Dragon battled on to fill a placing without threatening the top pair following a one-out, one-back run. He's well rated and had the benefit of a run on opening day. Villa Fionn came from last to finish a distant fourth. It was still a good effort on the back of a slow pace and he can bob up at any moment. Murray's Partners came up one-paced after recovering from a slow start to settle midfield on the fence. He had an excuse. Kungfumaster Panda came up flat after settling three from the rear. The pace didn't suit and he's better suited at Sha Tin. Usually up near the front half of the field, Red Elysees cost himself any chance after jumping slowly. Zhan Jiang Rocks weakened 100m out after going forward to sit second 1,300m out. He doesn't get this trip.
