Recap by phillip woo
Post-time favourite Californiadeepshot drew clear for an emphatic win after advancing to the lead approaching the final bend following a pace-stalking run from a wide draw. He had caught the eye in two prior starts over this trip and was spot on following a trial win. Mister Snowden just out-battled the heavily-backed Telecom Fighters for second after a box-seat run. It was another fine result following a July win at just his second local start. Telecom Fighters kept on well after a one-out, one-back run. He really came into his own late last season at the Valley but this performance should give him plenty more options going forward. The Rock closed off reasonably well after covering ground in midfield. He rarely produces a bad run. Sitting just underneath The Rock, Highland Fortune ran on steadily to pick up a minor cheque. It was another positive effort after ending last season with mile seconds once at each track. Zebrowski made headway late without menacing from towards the rear. It was a pleasing debut performance in a race run to suit those up front. Early favourite Master Montaro ran on without menacing after getting cast deep with cover four from the back. He needs a faster pace.
