Alloy King just got up 30m out following a lovely run one-out, one-back from a good draw in an ideally run race. The maiden win keeps him in training another year if he wishes. Lucky Maryknoll closed off well one-off better than midfield to finish a close second while just denying Shanghai Power by a lip for second. She's really found her running shoes in recent starts following a downgrade. Shanghai Power kept on well to just miss a quinella spot tracking the leader one-off from a wide draw. He's only come into his own in his past three starts. Plunged late, Day Day Rich wouldn't go down without a fight after getting his own way in front from a wide draw. It was a better effort in his second run in the grade with a return to Sha Tin. Favourite One Step Ahead made some ground late after a wide run with cover behind midfield. He covered a bit too much ground and wasn't suited by the race tempo. Telecom Missile ran on steadily to just miss a pay slip following a one-off run worse than midfield. The combination of a rise in weight for a last-start win and a muddling pace worked against him.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (816) - MR AWARD HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Meters

As the start was effected, TELECOM MISSILE lifted its front feet off the ground, resulting in the horse beginning only fairly.

WINNING WARRIOR shifted out at the start and bumped RAGING BLAZE.

SPICY GRILL shifted in at the start and brushed ONE STEP AHEAD.

GLORIOUS BUDDY and DAY DAY RICH bumped at the start.

LUCKY MARYKNOLL shifted out at the start and inconvenienced SEVENTH SEA.

RAGING BLAZE was awkwardly placed outside WINNING WARRIOR approaching the 1100 Metres when being steadied to obtain cover behind that horse.

After the 1000 Metres, ONE STEP AHEAD shifted in abruptly away from the heels of TELECOM MISSILE after momentarily being awkwardly placed inside the heels of that horse.

When ONE STEP AHEAD shifted in, RAGING BLAZE was inconvenienced.

At the 500 Metres, TELECOM MISSILE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of LUCKY MARYKNOLL.

At the entrance to the Straight, KELMIMI WINS raced tight outside LUCKY MARYKNOLL which shifted out to obtain clear running.

Passing the 400 Metres, SEVENTH SEA travelled close to the heels of SPICY GRILL when being shifted to the outside of that horse.

Throughout the race, KELMIMI WINS travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of SPICY GRILL immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, SPICY GRILL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of COOL ACE immediately following the race found that horse to have an epiglottic entrapment.

A veterinary inspection of KELMIMI WINS immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer??which had previously been reported.

ONE STEP AHEAD, ALLOY KING and LUCKY MARYKNOLL were sent for sampling.
