Recap by phillip woo
Telecom Missile just prevailed by a whisker over the late-fancied Voyage Star after hitting the front 150m out travelling one-off in midfield. He had caught the eye in two prior starts after joining the Caspar Fownes yard and the key was a quicker start here. Voyage Star took some time to hit his stride and just failed to overhaul the winner after peeling into the clear approaching the final bend following a one-out, one-back run. He's a winner waiting to happen if he remains in the grade. Favourite One Step Ahead was balked for a run with his move from behind midfield 150m out, switched out sharply soon after and responded nicely to finish a close third. It may have been a good enough run to save his career. Golden Mission kept on OK for fourth after pressing forward to lead one off from the 1,000m until handing up to Garlic Hero 650m out on his inside. He's honest but has trouble winning. For Fun's Sake ran on without menacing following a one-off run second from the rear after a slow start. He had been racing very well and was just too far back in the run here. Garlic Hero was on his tippy toes 150m out after rolling to the lead 650m out. It wasn't a bad effort following a downgrade and still has youth on his side.
