Racing Incident Report
Race Ten: (796) - BETTER FUTURE 1000M HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000Meters
CRUISING was withdrawn on 29.6.21 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (right front tendon injury).
Before being allowed to race again, CRUISING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
FLYING HIGH shifted out at the start and bumped GOOD VIEW CLARICO.
FLYING HIGH was then steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
EMBARKED began only fairly.
UNITED WE STAND and SUPER WIN DRAGON bumped at the start.
IAN began awkwardly and lost ground.
UNITED WE STAND lost its right front plate near the 800 Metres.
B Shinn (GOOD VIEW CLARICO) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 800 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of UNITED WE STAND, resulting in that horse being checked and losing the running to which it was rightfully entitled.
In the circumstances, the Stewards believed the appropriate penalty was for B Shinn to be fined the sum of $75,000 in lieu of a period of suspension from riding in races which would incorporate 3 racedays.
FLYING HIGH, which was following UNITED WE STAND, was shifted out away from the heels of that horse in consequence, resulting in SUPER WIN DRAGON being inconvenienced.
UNITED WE STAND lost its left hind plate near the 500 Metres.
Approaching the 150 Metres, SUPER WIN DRAGON was shifted in a number of horses to obtain clear running.
Approaching the 100 Metres, GOOD VIEW CLARICO and METRO WARRIOR brushed.
Close to the finishing line, EMBARKED was awkwardly placed inside the heels of SMOKEY BEAR when racing tight outside UNITED WE STAND which shifted out marginally.
Also close to the finishing line, FLYING HIGH was awkwardly placed behind GOOD VIEW CLARICO and consequently was not able to be fully tested over the concluding stages.
After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that FLYING HIGH had sustained a minor laceration to the left hind fetlock.
A veterinary inspection of SEVEN HEAVENS and UNITED WE STAND immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
JOYFUL FORTUNE, FIRST RESPONDER and GOOD VIEW CLARICO were sent for sampling.
GENERAL:

Races 3 - 6 were each back 5 minutes.

Additional Veterinary Reports from Sha Tin Racemeeting on 26 June 2021 The Veterinary Surgeon reported that HIGHLY PROACTIVE was lame in its right front leg after racing.
Before being allowed to race again, HIGHLY PROACTIVE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Subsequent official veterinary inspections (without endoscopy) of LUCKY VICTOR, RUBY STARS, BLAZE WARRIOR, SMART WONGCHOY, FOX CHEUNGER, BLAZING PARTNERS, SUPER FAST, EL VALIENTE, SUPERBELLA, ENTRUSTED, VICTORY SCHOLARS, BRILLIANT CHINA, TRUE LEGEND, SO WE JOY, BELUGA, LEAP OF FAITH, DROPS OF GOD, IMA SINGLE MAN, WHEN YOU BELIEVE, HIGHLY PROACTIVE and SHINING ACE revealed no apparent abnormality.

Racing Laboratory tests of JIANGXI STAMINA, JOY MASTER, JIMMU, NUREMBERG, SWOT TROOPERS WIND, TAILOR MADE, LUCKY QUALITY, FLYING DRAGON, GLUCK RACER, MARADO, ALL BEAUTY, COLUMBUS COUNTY, SOUTHERN LEGEND, RELIABLE TEAM, OSCAR GLORY, CHARGE ON, SKY FIELD, SKY DARCI, KILLER BEE, DUBLIN STAR, HINCHINLOVE, LUCKY EXPRESS, WAR WEAPON, MALDIVES and GOLDEN LINK (20.6.21) proved negative.

In a thrilling finish, First Responder just held on for the win after surging to the lead from post-time favourite Joyful Fortune 300m out following a pace-prompting run. He was able to step up after a win two back in Class Four but it wasn't an overly strong form race. Good View Clarico stayed on gamely racing handy on the far side to make it close on the wire. It was an improved effort on his recent form but he does like the straight 1,000m. Early favourite Metro Warrior just missed out chasing the speed. He's racing well but keeps finding one or a two too good. Quadruple Double closed off well from midfield to make it tight on the line. He proved a last start fourth over the 1,200m was not a fluke. Super Win Dragon finished nicely from the rear for the most part after switching into the clear 150m out to finish a close fifth. It was a much-improved effort on his past four starts with a step back to the 1,000m. Post-time favourite Joyful Fortune was stopping 150m out after working to the lead 600m. He's not genuine. Ian made ground late on the stands side after settling third last following a slow start. It was a pleasing effort on debut and he does appear to want further.
