Recap by phillip woo

Red Brick Fighter quickened nicely three from the right to grab victory 20m out following a one-off run behind midfield. He relished a return to the course and distance after a win in February. Early favourite Island Shine ran on well for second settling one off in midfield after a sluggish start. He needs to get his act together at the start but is clearly a winner waiting to happen at this level. Late-fancied favourite Hero Star did everything right after working to the front 200m out following a pace-stalking run from a tricky gate. He backed up nicely following a placing last week. Viva Chef held his ground to fill the frame following a prominent run. He can produce an odd good run now and then but isn't anything special. Ambitious Heart ran on late near the outside without menacing after settling fourth last from a middle draw. The extra eight pounds with a return to a senior rider after a near win last start took its toll. Take What You Need ran on without menacing settling third last from an awkward gate. He got too far back in the run. Beauty Cheers had no excuse after a box-seat. Experimenting on the dirt last start and the Valley here has backfired.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three: (721) - MORRISON HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

ISLAND SHINE, BEAUTY CHEERS and GIVE WAY PLEASE were all crowded for room on jumping between AQUILA which shifted out and VIVA CHEF which began awkwardly and then got its head on the side and shifted in.

Shortly after the start, FORTUNE HAPPINESS and RED BRICK FIGHTER raced tight.

From the outside barriers, RED BRICK FIGHTER, FORTUNE HAPPINESS and HAPPY WIN WIN were all steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.

VIVA CHEF lost its right hind plate in the early stages.

For some distance approaching and passing the 1000 Metres, TAKE WHAT YOU NEED was ridden along in an attempt to cross ISLAND SHINE.

As a result of being unable to cross that horse, TAKE WHAT YOU NEED was then left racing wide and without cover and passing the 850 Metres shifted in and bumped ISLAND SHINE.

TAKE WHAT YOU NEED was then steadied for some distance approaching and passing the 800 Metres to obtain cover behind RED BRICK FIGHTER.

Making the turn after the 1000 Metres, FORTUNE HAPPINESS was left racing very wide and was then steadied for some distance to obtain cover.

Passing the 250 Metres, BEAUTY CHEERS shifted out under pressure, requiring its rider to stop riding and correct his mount.

Passing the 150 Metres, ISLAND SHINE got its head on the side and lay in away from RED BRICK FIGHTER.

ISLAND SHINE then continued to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.

After the race, J Moreira was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of BEAUTY CHEERS.

A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY CHEERS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of TAKE WHAT YOU NEED and ORIENTAL AMIGO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

HERO STAR, RED BRICK FIGHTER and ISLAND SHINE were sent for sampling.
