Even money favourite Carroll Street out-duelled Metro Warrior after shooting to the front near the 200m following a handy run near the stand side to ring up a second win from three starts. He was able to bounce back from a respiratory infection and there's clearly more to come from the three-year-old. Metro Warrior wouldn't go down without a fight, sharing the lead on the stand side. He rarely produces a bad run over this trip. Eight Trigrams stayed on nicely to finish a close third following a midfield run on the grandstand side. It was an improved effort with a return to the turf. When You Believe kept grinding away to finish a non-threatening fourth following a midfield run in the center of the track. The big weight took its toll. Punted late, Super Win Dragon ran on all right without menacing from towards the rear on the fans side. It was a positive debut effort. Well-fancied newcomer Elon was coming back to the field 150m out after showing gate speed to vie for the lead from a middle gate. He'll need time to acclimatise.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (595) - CORNWALL HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000Meters

FLYING HIGH shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of WHEN YOU BELIEVE which became unbalanced.

FLYING HIGH then shifted in a short distance after this and bumped SHINY ONE.

CIRCUIT SEVEN, which was fractious in the barriers, began only fairly.

CARROLL STREET began awkwardly.

Approaching the 600 Metres, SUPER WIN DRAGON was momentarily crowded for room between CARROLL STREET which shifted in slightly and GOOD LUCK CHARM which was awkwardly placed outside the heels of ELON.

H T Mo, the rider of EIGHT TRIGRAMS, dropped his whip approaching the 150 Metres.

After the race, J Moreira was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of ELON which was having its first race start in Hong Kong today.

He said after laying in in the early part of the race ELON came under pressure near the 400 Metres and then did not finish off the race.

A veterinary inspection of ELON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

CARROLL STREET and METRO WARRIOR were sent for sampling.
