Alloy Star burst through a gap 100m out to claim victory close to home after gaining a run at the 300m following a rail run four back. He had put the writing on the wall with a near win last start over the 1,400m. Universal Crown ran on well near the outside to make it close on the wire after a wide with cover run behind midfield. It was a much better effort at his second run in the grade. Supported late, Golden Mission knocked up late after giving a cheeky sight in front from a wide gate. He keeps promising but can't deliver on a win line. Well-backed late, Spicy Grill finished nicely from the rear of the field to fill the frame after fading back from a wide draw. He's made a good impression in back-toback runs and can bob up at any moment but likely over a longer trip. Moon Peaks came up one paced tracking the leader one off the fence. He likely prefers a faster surface. Hit late in betting, Vega Rhythm kept on evenly over the last 100m after a box-seat run. He might be better suited over a longer trip. Favourite Regency Poet just held his ground after a prominent run without cover. He had an excuse.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (594) - SUFFOLK HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Meters

KWAI CHUNG ELITE shifted out abruptly at the start, resulting in TELECOM MISSILE, which began awkwardly, being crowded for room and taken out onto ALLOY STAR which became badly unbalanced after being bumped by TELECOM MISSILE.

REGENCY POET and GO BALLISTIC bumped at the start.

GO BALLISTIC then became unbalanced and shifted out, resulting in FOR FUN'S SAKE being crowded for room inside UNIVERSAL CROWN.

After this, from a wide barrier, FOR FUN'S SAKE was shifted across behind runners.

SPICY GRILL was slow to begin and then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners.

From a wide barrier, UNIVERSAL CROWN was also steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.

GO BALLISTIC lost its right front plate near the 900 Metres.

Passing the 600 Metres, ALLOY STAR was momentarily awkwardly placed behind SMART CHARADE.

FOR FUN'S SAKE had some difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 400 Metres.

For some distance approaching and passing the 300 Metres, SMART CHARADE raced in restricted room inside VEGA RHYTHM which was inclined to lay in under pressure.

Close to the finishing line, VEGA RHYTHM was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GOLDEN MISSION and consequently was not able to be fully tested over the concluding stages.

Throughout the race, REGENCY POET travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of SMART CHARADE immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, SMART CHARADE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

REGENCY POET, ALLOY STAR and UNIVERSAL CROWN were sent for sampling.
