Racing Incident Report
Race Six: (417) - PEACH BLOSSOM HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters
GAMEPLAYER STAR was withdrawn on 9.2.21 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter HAPPY WARRIOR (N Callan).
Before being allowed to race again, GAMEPLAYER STAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
HAPPY FORTUNE lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and consequently was slow to begin.
ZHAN JIANG ROCKS shifted in at the start and bumped the hindquarters of GLORIOUS LOVER.
From wide barriers, STAR OF RED and TOP SCORE were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Approaching the 1200 Metres, EVER LAUGH travelled keenly and was awkwardly placed behind HAPPY WARRIOR.
Passing the 1000 Metres, HAPPY FORTUNE commenced to travel keenly and got its head up when being checked away from the heels of ZHAN JIANG ROCKS which was awkwardly placed behind DIAMOND STAR.
In this incident, HAPPY FORTUNE shifted out away from the heels of ZHAN JIANG ROCKS, resulting in STAR OF RED being hampered and taken wider.
Passing the 300 Metres, VILLA FIONN was checked away from the heels of CALIFORNIA LEGEND when held up for clear running behind that horse.
Then near the 250 Metres, VILLA FIONN was checked when attempting to improve into tight running between CALIFORNIA LEGEND and GLORIOUS LOVER (J Moreira) which shifted in.
As the Stewards were satisfied that VILLA FIONN had not established running between CALIFORNIA LEGEND and GLORIOUS LOVER, the Stewards took no further action other than to advise Jockey Moreira to ensure that he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground in similar circumstances.
A veterinary inspection of ZHAN JIANG ROCKS and CALIFORNIA LEGEND immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
GLORIOUS LOVER, GALLANT CROWN and RIGHT HONOURABLE were sent for sampling.

Punted late, Gallant Crown quickened nicely to take control 100m out following a oneoff run in midfield for a third straight win following a step-up to the Valley 1,650m. He has the tools to win again. Right Honourable rallied nicely from behind midfield to grab second 50m out. He can produce an odd good run now and then. Glorious Lover had his chance following a prominent run. He has been honest as the day is long this season but can't win. Ever Laugh kept on one-paced settling in the box seat. He's run with merit in three straight Valley runs but may be crying out for a return to Sha Tin. Happy Warrior knocked up in the final 100m. It was a better effort on his past few runs with a return to his favourite Valley 1,650m. Diamond Star ran on without menacing after a rails run worse than midfield. He's naturally coming to hand in his six starts. Villa Fionn was baulked for a run on two occasions in the stretch drive following a handy run along the fence. You can forgive him for this run. Zhan Jiang Rocks ran on without threatening travelling fourth from the back. He requires rating relief.
