Racing Incident Report
Race Ten: (392) - VICTORIA HARBOUR HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1200Meters
DUKE WAI began awkwardly and bumped the hindquarters of GOLD CHEST, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced.
CALIFORNIADEEPSHOT also began awkwardly and lost ground at the start.
SPEND shifted out at the start and made contact with the hindquarters of ROMAN TURBO.
From a wide barrier, YOUNG LEGEND was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Approaching and passing the 800 Metres, HANDSOME BO BO commenced to travel keenly and got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of TEAM SPIRIT.
RACING FIGHTER was held up for clear running from the 400 Metres until after passing the 200 Metres.
Leaving the 300 Metres, A Hamelin (YOUNG LEGEND) momentarily dropped his left rein.
DUKE WAI was held up for clear running on straightening and at the 250 Metres was shifted to the inside of the heels of CALIFORNIADEEPSHOT and HANDSOME BO BO to continue improving.
After passing the 200 Metres, DUKE WAI was again badly held up before obtaining a narrow run between the tiring TEAM SPIRIT and HANDSOME BO BO passing the 100 Metres.
Approaching the 50 Metres, DUKE WAI shifted in and brushed TEAM SPIRIT.
Throughout the race, ALL IN MIND travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.
A veterinary inspection of GOLD CHEST, TEAM SPIRIT, CALIFORNIADEEPSHOT and HANDSOME BO BO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
CALIFORNIADEEPSHOT, BEAUTY APPLAUSE and GUY DRAGON were sent for sampling.
GENERAL:
1.
Additional Veterinary Reports from Happy Valley Racemeeting on 27 January 2021 The Veterinary Surgeon reported that GREAT SON had sustained an injury to the right front leg after racing.
Before being allowed to race again, GREAT SON will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Subsequent official veterinary inspections (without endoscopy) of TIGERLAD, GREAT SON, HAPPY HOUR, CALIFORNIA LEGEND, TAILOR MADE, MY ECSTATIC, THE ANOMALY, JAZZ STEED, PEAK TO PEAK, MOMENT OF POWER, WHISKEY NEAT, DREAM WARRIORS, V CHEVALIERS, WE THE SOUTH, FLYING GENIUS, SUNSHINE WARRIOR, DELIGHTFUL LAOS, THE ROCK, SAVAQUIN and ROYAL BOMB revealed no apparent abnormality.

Racing Laboratory tests of SHINEALOT, PRETTY BAUHINIA, NUREMBERG, WOOD ON FIRE, DOLLAR REWARD, ARDENODE, OVERSUBSCRIBED, VIVA MAMA, A SMILE LIKE YOURS, WINSTON'S LAD, JOLLY GOOD HEART, MORE THAN ENOUGH, FAST PACE, GLORIOUS LOVER, STOCK LEGEND, PRANCE DRAGON, WEALTHY DELIGHT, SUNNY STAR, IMA SINGLE MAN, SCORES OF FUN, SPARKLING DRAGON, IGNITING and LOVING A BOOM (20.1.21) proved negative.

Beauty Applause was too good after surging to the lead 350m following a pace-stalking run outside Team Spirit from a wide gate. He continues to race very well after a win last start over the straight 1,000m. Guy Dragon finished nicely to grab second without menacing the winner after travelling deep towards the rear from a wide draw. It was no surprise to see him figure in the finish. Roman Turbo stayed on well to place after a three-deep run with cover better than midfield. He was able to hold his own up in grade off a light weight. Highland Fortune plugged away one-paced following a handy run to just miss a placing. He's run well to fill the frame in three of his four outings at both tracks this term. Racing Fighter ran on late without menacing the top-four after a patient ride fourth from the back. It wasn't a bad effort but he's a Class Three horse. Duke Wai was blocked for most the straight following a rail run behind midfield.
